I would have thought A Edwards would have been a like for like replacement for knights?

 :thumbsup

Me too. What does he have to do to earn a game? And more importantly, what did we recruit him for in the first place?
As a replacement for Riewoldt if he went down with injury & if we still have a chance at finals.
That is all.

Edwards isn't a key forward. He's only 185cm. I don't see him as a replacement for Jack in case of injury at all. He should be being used right now to make our attack multi-pronged, less predictable and more dangerous.

Not sure why brought White in. He can tackle but he is not an impact player.

Would have liked to have seen Arnot get a game. White has been serviceable - probably performed better than Nahas ths season to be honest - but player like Arnot. A. Edwards and Dea need a reward for effort sooner rather than later if we want them to maintain the standard they are setting in the VFL. I understand we need not gift games to players but when there is a 50/50 decision based on the form of a long term fringe player and an up and coming I would err on the side of development.

Good line up though all the same despite recent injuries.

Anything less than 70-30 I would give games to the young untried guys over players like White who are triers but are conclusively not good enough. Why not blood Arnott against the tankers and give him some confidence? Strange selection

Tony you indeed have a point. The only thing I think is holding Arnott back is a level of consistant effort ,and a tendancy to play the man rather than the ball....but that's just my opinion

The guys runs on railway tracks. Has no defensive game and is too slow.
The opposition would exploit him out of defense no doubt about it.
Unfortunately he's a top up player a backup. Which is perfectly fine.
But expecting him to be a major part of our season proper is just fanciful nonsense.
Lets face it, He's Done Ok for himself for a VFL player but his time had gone.
He's purely a structure fill in for our VFL team, an extreme circumstances backup for the seniors only because he's had AFL experience.
Don't hold your breath waiting to see him play unless the team is desperate.

Very strange indeed considering we're playing a lowly team with no spine.
I don't understand why they wouldn't have him ahead of white in this game even just for a taste of some AFL action.

Now I really do want him to get a game.

So you want us to be injury riddled and desperate enough to be in the position we would need the services of "lock up" to play up forward for us?
That's awesome for you '65.
Although I didn't take you for a lover of mediocrity until now.

A poster on Big Footy claimed that arnott had been told he needed to curb his temper and unnecessary aggression or he would never get a game.

One thing i've noticed under hardwick is that when young blokes are close to getting a game they will be named as an emergency before getting a game (except in the first 2 years where they would all get a block of games to see how they performed)

It's as if it's case of your nearly there, but keep doing what you have been.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?

Bugger!

Cheers for the info Chucky.

--------------------------------------

FORMER Richmond captain Chris Newman will not line up against Melbourne tomorrow.

The Tigers today withdrew Newman from their team with groin soreness.

Matt Dea will replace Newman against the Dees, while David Astbury has been added to the emergencies list.
