Gws and the rest including dogs
« on: March 13, 2015, 07:37:25 PM »
Gws get stuffed, no one there no one cares. Afl buy them a flag for a qtr of the members we already get just for the sake of it.
Tigers is all I love not the game anymore, stuffing joke!
Includes handouts to all the interstate sides, we've got jack poo from them, a real flag if we snag one. stuffing joke!

The honchos running the AFL definitely must take their core audience for fools.
Asking fans of established clubs for patience when in some cases they've been waiting decades for success, yet have no patience themselves and fast track expansion teams in the aimless quest of growing the sport*.

I can see GC doing OK one day. GWS is soooo manufactured its bad news bearish.
At least some people on the gold coast want to watch footy.

There is a bit of a market for footy on the GC and the genuine growth of the suns is the only reason the NRL will keep the Titans. As for GWS, I agree with Carey, will be gone in 15 years (or transferred) but not before the rest of the competition pays for it.

With you cub. Only Tigers. Me and dad used to go to heaps of neutral games but now I even struggle to watch any non richmond games on TV.

18 clubs has made game mediocre.
Scheduling times has made it undesirable.
Coaches directing 36 players to mill around the ball has made it like the under 10's

Making chips outrageously expensive instead of insultingly expensive is lip service

Do something we want like 11 home games at the MCG

ass holes.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The expansion teams are a necessary 'pain'. More than 50% of Australia's population lives in NSW & Qld and the Gold Coast & Western Sydney are two of fastest growing regions. Sydney is also a major chunk of the TV & advertising market. We may not all like it but Aussie Rules just can't ignore these regions even if best case scenario is only sustainable niche clubs in 25+ years time. For those of us old enough to remember, supporters of Victorian clubs and the Melbourne media were saying the same things in the late 80s-mid 90s about the Swans & Bears being a waste of the sport's time and money when the money could have gone to propping up Victorian clubs who were struggling at the time.

It's going to take time to judge the worthiness of the two new clubs and in GWS's case, to actually have a season where they win more than a couple of games per year to get people to come to their home games. Sydneysiders are the biggest bunch of sporting bandwagoners. Take the Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-league - all hype when they were winning in their first two years but their crowds have dived this season and tonight just 11k turned up to watch them while midweek it worse than that at just 7k.

How are the Bears and Swans going now in NSW and QLD? Nobody up there would even notice if they disappeared and folded
