Would not surprise if he received 1 week. Unnecessary!

Yes it will be looked

If they are consistent he cops a fine

But.... Reckon he will be used as an example for the league to try and make another "statement"
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

According to SEN using the MRO criteria:

To the body.
Intentional.
So it then depends on the level of impact.
Low impact = a fine;
Medium impact = one week.

The guy on SEN reckons Lynch will only get a fine unless the AFL want to make an example of Lynch. Opposition fans crying "protective species". Tigers fan said Collins also hit Lynch and Tom would appeal a suspension.

Thought it was soft, albeit unnecessary.

Collins was fine though, looked to me like he went down when Aarts was running past and maybe gave him one more?

Dimma backs 'aggressive' Tigers despite Lynch worry

Star Richmond forward Tom Lynch is likely to face Match Review scrutiny over a final-quarter incident with Sam Collins.

DAMIEN Hardwick has backed his Richmond side to continue playing with aggression, following a final-quarter incident that is likely to see Tom Lynch come under scrutiny from the Match Review Officer.

With his team leading by seven points late in the night against Gold Coast, Lynch appeared to hit Suns' defender Sam Collins in the stomach.

Collins dropped to the ground seconds later and Lynch led out to take a relatively uncontested mark before sealing the win with a goal.

Although Hardwick said he didn't see the incident, the Tigers coach was on board with the aggressive approach from his team as it begins a run to the finals.

"You give some, you take some," Hardwick said.

"That's the reality of the game, it's a combative sport. We want our guys to play aggressive, assertive footy, that's how they play.

"We don't want them to go over the line, but sometimes they will, which is unfortunate. If their (opposition) backs are there around it, they'll go through them."

Lynch was instrumental in the grinding 21-point win, kicking two of his team's eight goals.

Speaking on ABC Radio post-match, the marquee forward said he didn't have anything to worry about.

"It was an open hand push-off, that was it," Lynch said.

"He (Collins) was a bit angry about that It was just an open hand to the chest, which as a key forward you want to do."

'Cheap shot': Tiger forward faces scrutiny for stomach punch

Richmond forward Tom Lynch faces scrutiny for an off-the-ball "cheap shot" on Suns opponent Sam Collins after the Tigers continued their push for a top-four berth with a 21-point win over Gold Coast on Monday night.

Footage behind the play at the Gabba appeared to show Lynch, the former Suns captain, whacking Collins in the stomach before dashing off on a lead where he marked and converted a goal that iced a hard-fought win.

Collins then remonstrated with Lynch while Suns skipper Jarrod Witts also got involved. Collins appeared to still be angry with the chain of events in the dressing room after the match.

The incident will be assessed by the match review officer before the Tigers' Dreamtime clash against Essendon in Darwin on Saturday.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said he wanted Lynch - and his entire team - to play in an aggressive manner.

"You give some, you take some. It's a reality of the nature of the game. It's a competitive sport. We want our guys to play aggressive, assertive footy, that's how they play," he said.

"We don't want them to go over the line, but sometimes they will, which is unfortunate. I like our guys to play assertive, aggressive footy. If the backs (defenders) are there around them, they will go through them."

However, St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt later described the whack as a "cheap shot".

"That play we saw, Tom Lynch went on and kicked a goal. He (Collins) clearly didn't like the treatment and that Tom Lynch got on the end of it and kicked the goal," he said on Fox Footy.

"The precedent is there. Players are going to continue to do it because the whack (punishment) is not big enough. It is a cheap shot because you are not expecting that as a player."

Tigers veteran Jack Riewoldt said Lynch was at his best when playing angry.

"I think that is by design. I feel he plays his best footy when he is on the edge. He is pretty scary ... we know he plays his best footy when he is aggressive in the contest and sometimes there has to be a little bit of this to get him up and going," he said.

"It's just understanding what makes you as a player. I feel he had a really big impact in the back half of the game."

The win leaves the Tigers only two points outside the top four with six rounds remaining. They had 25 more inside 50s than the Suns, but could not breakaway until the final term. Skipper Trent Cotchin returned from a game off and was superb, finishing with 26 disposals, including 15 contested.

Here's the video of the incident:

1. Tom Lynch needs to cool it. Just ask Tomahawk

One of the traits that makes Tom Lynch so good is his aggression, but the marquee Richmond forward is walking on thin ice. Lynch's hit to the stomach of Sam Collins in Monday night's win over Gold Coast might not even be looked at by the Match Review Officer, or it might end up costing him a fine – either way, he is entering dangerous territory. Just two weeks ago Lynch's shove to the back of Alex Witherden's head cost him $500. While neither incident is that bad in isolation, it's these types of brain fades that can be costly come finals time – just ask Geelong's Tom Hawkins whose moment of madness with Will Schofield cost him a preliminary final spot and perhaps his team a Grand Final appearance.

He caught Collins by surprise, low impact, didn’t affect him. Aarts was the one who put him down. Apparently Collins thinks Full forwards aren’t allowed to give it back. Carried on like a fragile 6 year old after the game.

Pussy. If you ever want to see how soft some of these players have become, the vision of him sulking in the room banging walls was great.

:lol :rollin  Saw that.
What a hosehead this kid is. If Lynch wasn’t in his head before the game he certainly is now. I’m guessing it will be an easier game for Lynch next time they play.

Don't know about it being easier for Lynch as Collins will be fired up. Point will be if the Umps will give Lynch any frees when Collins tries to exact revenge

10 News just lead their sports news lambasting Lynch as a thug and lauding Sam Collins for his sooking/emotional outburst after the game. This media has got to stop.  It's pathetic.
