They just showed it again and you can not see any contact by Howat.

Whether right or wrong I can't figure it out. Please explain .....

I am all for going back to the old days of an eye for an eye ....if they want

But the Aussie Netball League is not like that anymore - IS IT  ???

Yeah I found it when I watched the match again today. Happens just before Browny's goal at the end of the third quarter. Heartless, or whatever his name is, had beaten Howat in a contest about 30 seconds earlier. I don't know if Howat deliberately struck Heartless but he sure went down like a sack of poo, as you can see from the replay. I paused, went back and forward, and tried very hard to see exactly what happened and I can't make it out. I have a 50 inch hi def tv so I would expect to be able to make it out if it is possible. Spent 5 minutes or so looking at it. All I know is Howat was watching the ball not Heartless. I got the impression Heartless was bothering him so he may have slung his arm back to get rid of him, but that is just speculation. Unless he pleads guilty or admits to wrong doing I have no idea how he could possibly be convicted on that video footage. It is the AFL of course so expect the unexpected.

If he pleads not guilty he'd have to admit striking him but claim it was accidently - the guy was obviously hit, was listed as suffering concussion after the game, and would have to give evidence - so depending on what the other guy says chances are Howat will get suspended.

he obviously smacked him but if u cant see it in hi def
(and i imagine you scrutinised the stuff out of it)
then a not guilty plea would be the only intelligent thing to do.

I suppose it is possible that there are other camera angles that we have not seen. It will be interesting to see what happens.

i guess they screwed us when they put in the medical report
describing him as concussed...but then again, they allowed him to play concussed too.
Take on the system i say and if they rub him out we welcome him back with open arms for a
big game upon his return.

Howat was left sprawled on the turf and needed to be carried off by two trainers while Hartlett stayed on and whacked Howat.

AFL match review panel
5:10 PM Mon 24 March, 2008

RICHMOND’S Cam Howat can accept a two-match suspension with an early plea after being charged by the AFL Match Review Panel on Monday.

Howat was charged with a level four striking offence against Carlton key-position prospect Adam Hartlett during the third quarter of last Thursday’s season opener at the MCG.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points).

Hartlett also faces a similar stint on the sidelines after being charged with a striking offence. The 21-year-old can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea after the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points).

They showed both clip of the incidents again on FC. As RROFO said with Howat's one on Hartlett is impossible to tell what happened except you see Hartlett go down. The match review panel must have purely gone on Hartlett's concussion but that's not proof. Gary Lyon said Howat should appeal.
