No doubt continual training honing skills and hardwork is critical to improvement and development but I think Jack's point is you need to have the class and ability in the first place otherwise anyone willing to train as hard could become an AFL standard footballer.

Have you noticed of late that a number of factors like endurance are not as valuable anymore.  It used to be an endurance game, but now its much more of a sprinting power game with the huge number of rotations.  So the best tan runner may not be the best footballer.  Still I take your point, you do need some ability.

My point is we do need to get better off field with our development and injury management.  Its not all recruiting.

I'm thinking a run around the Tan and skinfolds to test fitness levels and who has looked after themselves over the break. With a new coach anything is possible I guess. Hardwick could very well get the footies out on day 1 given our basic lack of skill.

So when exactly do the boys hit the track again? And more importantly where?
I'm going through the footy withdrawals big time too, in the midst of the horror of all this BORING Spring Racing nonsense, and am up for some sessions at Punt Road, Gosch's Paddock or Vic Park. I hope they're not ready to start at Craigiburn yet. That's a bit too far afield for me.

The boys are due to report for training on Monday 26th

Would think Monday will be the standard tests and then a run of some description

But it is definitely Monday 26th Oct
