Although I agree Astbury has really stood up in Rances absence, Cloke is terribly out of form and other than him he hasnt played on a quality key forward.
Really has improved a lot though, used to have 0 confidence.

Have a look at the record in the last few years and see how may Cloke usually kicks against Richmond.

Even when out of form Cloke saves his best for us.

Keep it going Dave the Chemical Engineer

I think theres a spot for him,but the worrying part for me is his lack of pace.On a few occasions 32 ,dodgy kneed Brown led him to the ball

One of Brown's goals was on Chappy. And another should have been stopped by that pea heart Grigg. If Astbury played with team players that would have been hammered into the 10th row.

A couple of the others I don't know what he was doing. He got a fist in easily but missed the ball.  :lol :lol

Apparently last night was the first time a player has taken a contested mark against Astbury this year?

Astbury was fine IMO. Just needed some other blokes to plug holes in front of Brown. Petterd managed it. Grigg lowered his colours...

Fits in well at the Calamity Tigers.  :shh

But on a serious note I think he's tracking well.

Will have many frustrating games, as did Rance when he started. He'll be OK.
Go Tigers!

Has been good so far, though last night he struggled at times.

Still think he is too slow in his decision making, one of the main offenders of the stop starts on the backline

Hopefully would have learnt a lot playing against big Jon Brown

Good call WP, if you don't learn anything from being on King Brown, you never will learn anything, Browny has been awesome to watch over the years.
I think after he gets another year or so under his belt for experience, providing he doesn't play in the maggoos (not much experience there I'm afraid) like the last two years that he's been there, should see him become a valued player.
Looks to be going well and hope to see lots more of him down back.

Very happy with Astbury this year after another solid performance. Well done!
