Balmey on AFL Trade Radio this morning [13:35 min]:

Listen here: https://mde.whooshkaa.com/show/9121/episode/440893.mp3

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Neil Balme on Richmond's form: The Freo and Port Adelaide game, those were the two games that kept us in the running. That's when we thought we were good enough.

Neil Balme: I don't think even the people inside the club thought the climb after 2016 would happen. Kane Cornes said in 2016 that "there's no way you should get Dion Prestia you idots, you're not in the premiership window."

Neil Balme: We would've had to say  to Tom Lynch last year that if he comes he won't make as much as he would at other clubs. He made a clear decision that he wanted to be part of it anyway.

Neil Balme: I think for the last three years we've had the best team as opposed to the best players.

Sam McClure: I remember Richmond being belted by Sydney at the end of 2016. 14 of those players played in a premiership side the following year.

Nick Dal Santo: Jayden Short, Jason Castagna, Kane Lambert and Ivan Soldo were all picked up in the 2015 rookie draft and all played a flag last weekend. That is incredible.

That Sydney game in 2016 should be remembered for what it was.
One team primed for a serious finals assault vs a team that had already checked out for the season.

We played our grand final against collingwood and closed up shop.
