Gale on Motlop and Rance

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale has not denied reports that Richmond are chasing Geelong speedster Steven Motlop.

Motlop has put off contract talks with the Cats until the second half of the season.

Gale told SEN's Hungry For Sport they will be looking to bolster their list during the off season.

“We’re a reasonable footy team when we’re up and going, we’ve got work to do, and we can definitely better our list over the next few years,” he said.

“We’ll be looking at all players that can add value to our team, and there are a few out there.”

Meanwhile, Gale remains confident the Tigers will resign defender Alex Rance to a new contract.

It has been reported today that the Brisbane Lions are expected to offer Rance a five-year deal worth four million dollars.

Rance is also a very close friend of Lions coach Justin Leppitsch, however Gale has stressed he is not concerned.

“We are very confident that Alex will be a Richmond player for years to come, and we know that money isn’t a major motivating factor for him,” he said.

“Having said that we have a very competitive offer to put to Alex that is reflective of his status not just at the club but in the game, but there are other things in life that he values, and he tells us he’s absolutely happy here.”
