Setting the trap: Defence stats (afl site)

* Alex Rance is No.1 in the AFL for breaking up an opposition forward move. He's averaging 7.9 intercepts this year (from 14 games).

* Richmond is bottom 4 (15th) for opposition rebound efficiency - i.e. Inside 50 conceded from opposition chains that start in the backline. Champion Data says proficient in this category indicates an ability to cut off the ball before it gets to the dangerous area.

* Richmond is 13th for goals conceded per inside 50.

* Richmond is 10th for points against per game.

* Richmond is 6th for defensive efficiency - i.e. points conceded per 50 minutes of the ball being in a team's defensive half. The fewer the points, Champion Data says, the higher a team's capacity to absorb pressure or momentum.
