Hardwick was on the boundary screaming instructions...Fact! I'm 100% certain the he wasn't telling them to hold there spots. Its schoolyard poo, as a player in that situation you should know what to do, not wait to be told by the runner.

But as I posted last night it's not the coaches fault that at crunch times we have dumb players who haven't the nouse to follow instructions or the guts to see things through because they panic like little leaguers.

Cmon WP, you are smart enough to see that if the players are not following instructions the Coach's communication method/style is not working. Therefore it is the Coaches fault.

yeah it worked under wallett too when we smashed hawthorn in rd 21.

Id rather look at how we win and how we lose

ive closely watched the last 90 seconds again this morning and our midfield at the final bounce did NOT have Cotch in there

we played 6 vrs 4. I mean lets be serious what a monumental stuff up.

Have a good look when Harbrow when running down the ground and Dea was running away from towards the goal square
Please give me a break
Why didn't he run towards Rance and Harbrow.?
Why?
He hasn't a clue that's why?
Harbrow shouldn't have kicked that goal
Also Rances tap on to open space before Hunt took the mark

Okay Pope where have we improved? Name where you think we have

I have on another thread but i will again

improvements

%
edwards
rance
Grimes

where else?????

We still lost to a rabble of a club in GC
got pushed ton the line against GWS
Got beaten by freo at the MCG

yes we beat hawks/swans/.stkilda but most years we either beat them or get very close so again i ask where have we improved???

we have a decimated culture at our football club. Culture lost us the game today nothing else.

It was the same culture that cant put away clubs like melboutne the other week.

our club is surviving, not by the likes of brendan gale and Dimma, but by people like the ones on this site who pay to the fund and pay multiple memberships to only get this rubbish dished up.

If you think losing to GC, who also has a young side, is evidence we have improved then maybe watch the game again.

Watch nahas slowly jog to an opponent who then kicks a goal. Watch 6 forwards in our F50 in the dying minutes when it shouldve been flooded with Gus that useless stuff and dericks

No improvement IMO and the coaching staff have taken a step backwards also with some of their decisions.
you mention 4 clubs near the bottom of the ladder and ask why we either lost or cant convincingly beat them.
the answer is simple and has always been staring you in the face. the simple answer is we are not much  better or even no better  than these sides but expectations are we should beat them easy.

the simple truth is if you want on field success you need enough decent players to 1/ achieve it and 2/ sustain it.
we have enough decent players when all are fit and in form to place us in about  the same boat as probably 10 or 12 other sides.  placed somewhere between 7th and 13th on the ladder.

we dont have enough decent players to sustain it though.  lose just a couple of players as has happened and we join the bottom 6 or so sides.

ffs  this has been so obvious to everyone all yr,  yet when the injuries and suspensions come and we invariably go backwards people act shocked and angry the only possible reason for this reaction is they just dont understand the actual state of the list or they have had unrealistic expectations. seems to me its a combination of both.

the real message needs to go to the supporters, the message is:  bloody learn to understand the list we have.  actually acknowledge the real list deficiencies we have, and what they prevent us from achieving. stop the stupid expectations  especially when the depth is sorely tested.

do these things and supporters would not get so angry and emotional.

was losing to gc disappointing you bet ya, especially giving up a two goal lead with just over a minute to go.

but was the loss  really such  a bolt out of the blue that demands such over the top reactions from so many.  no way it was on the cards and was going to be a tough game for us.
you only need look at our performances this yr and last yr  against melb gws freo bris, pa, gc they have in the main been battles. our best 22 may be better than these sides atm but our depth if anything is probably worse for all sorts of reasons.

finals for next yr  is where im looking or what im looking at.  i have to say it may not happen because it takes time to build depth develop young players get enough players into the right age brackets with enough games played. focus on these things and then compare them  to other sides and your expectations will be lessened.look at the over all quality while your at it.

finally all i can say to the sooks out there is suck it up get realistic and stop crying like babies.
we all deep down knew we had a long way to go at the start of the yr and we still do now and next yr.
we are very much in heavy  list building phase we have been since hardwick came and we will remain so for two more drafts.

we have improved heaps.
some of us did warn when injuries hit,  well its been injuries sackings and suspensions we would struggle. again age experince quality and depth are all kpis lacking at richmond.

just on the players you named i reckon adam maric is worth persevering with. geez he makes good decisions and uses the ball real well. yes theres parts of his game he has to work on.
the other one is moore bloody hell mate hes missed almost two yrs of footy coming of a cripling injury what did you expect from him. i thought he went okay and the only way he will improve and we will find out if he can play on is by playing him.

im pleased graham got a game he bloody earnt it from consistent good form at coburg.
thing is he got a chance and he showed that its likely he is gonski as was always the case.  derickx while he probably hasnt earnt a game had to be played. if we had given these blokes some games earlier in the yr we would not be whwere we are now maybe they may be up to afl speed and a bit better than they are yeah i know thats a long bow but worth saying.
jeromey webberley showed he is a good vfl player but doesnt have enough in the armoury to step up.  again good form had to be rewarded.

no good going crook at those who came in its been known for a long time that a lot of them are not up to standard and we would get killed once injuries hit.
at least by playing  tthe glass half fulls we can see they definately have to go its not as if we have many other options. the choice is promote a not ready kid or a not up to it older player.
out side the top 16 players it is slim pickings but that was true at the start of the yr not just now.

Top post.

Absolutely spot on

He was yelling at the to flood back

But as I posted last night it's not the coaches fault that at crunch times we have dumb players who haven't the nouse to follow instructions or the guts to see things through because they panic like little leaguers.

Nice to Brisbane waiting for my next flight  ;D

why wasnt jack in the Back 50? Why wasnt Newy in the back half. Why was there 4 vrs 6 at the centre square

Too many questions.

Dont kid yourself it was a bad for the club, players and in particular Hardwick for leading our men to yet another less within 2 goals

To answer one of your questions = Newy was on bench concussed after having just come out of the rooms as aresult of having staples inserted into back of his head

And BTW I am not kidding myself how bad this loss is for the club - there is no hiding from that, even though the club itself seems to be in hiding  ;D

What is glaring now like a beacon although some of us have known it since before the season started is that we still haven't got great depth to our list and we still have too many players that went it is crunch time have no footy smarts and panic when they have no one around them to tell them what to do.

IMO perfect example was when Newman was concussed in the last 5 minutes. And lets be honest I am one of his harshest critics but geez we missed his leadership in those loast crucial minutes because he would have least marshalled some of the poor decision makers into better positions etc

The clearest message to the club is that the list still isn't good enough.

First major injuries for the year and we can't even beat GC.

Talk all you like about 3 premierships but it won't come whilst many of these footballers remain in the squad.

Just need to keep culling and bringing in fresh faces who might improve things quickly enough for Lids to see some September action before his career is over.

lol mentally weak no. they are just unrealistic and unthinking.
ive never ever understood the club and its marketing policys over the last 20 odd yrs. the supporters wont desert them thats been patently clear for the last 30 odd yrs.
plain old harsh honesty is all thats needed with the supporters but we never get it. why they feel the need to talk everything up is beyond me. if you talk the talk you had damn well better be able to walk the walk other wise keep your mouth shut.
trouble is the supporters swallow everything that the club says and sets the tone for unrealistic expectations. seems most supporters cant think for themselves or cant be bothered either way it leads to one place and its never nice.
