His goal from the 4th row from his first kick in AFL

Wonder how much mileage he will get out of this

I expect the RFC shop to start selling limited edition prints of the moment.....hopefully bundled with a free copy of our own version of "The Streak" on dvd.

Tigers back Ben
richmondfc.com.au
November 5, 2014

“We’re quite excited about Ben, and what he can offer over the next 12 months,” said the Tigers’ VFL coach, Tim Clarke.

“He was frustrated himself by not playing more senior games, but if you watched him at the start of the year and then watched him at the end of the year, he became a much better player.

“He trained much better out on the track.  You noticed him, where at the start of the year he did some flashy things.

“He really started to have a presence out on the training track.

“He always performed really well at VFL.  You can always be very critical of a player, and the things he needs to work on.

“He consistently kept getting the ball, kept putting the ball inside 50, and kept doing the right thing.

“We’re quite confident that he’s going to be a really good player, as he starts to fill into his body.”

i just read the whole thread and think we are too impatient at times me included.

what we  do know is hes very skillful and has excellent disposal. he will be a good size and can take a grab. he also can kick a goal.

without a doubt we need to find a high quality med fwdand atm it seems we have one in this kid.
my thinking is he wont survive purely as a fwd and has a few things that need working on.

seems he has some pace issues that can be worked on,  he will need to build his tank and clearly needs to keep adding size. i think he will also need to win a bit more contested ball. all of these things will eventually help him play thru the middle.

i know ive been critical of us taking him instead of taking a pure mid when pure mids have been the priority. thats not a shot at him but the club.

i think we all need to show some patience and give him a bit of time. he may not be an answer in the midfield in the short term but hopefully long term this can work out.  atm he could well be an answer up fwd or even coming of hb which are both list needs atm.

i suppose the thing to ask is what sort of return are we looking to get from him next yr.

we were crying out for a lot of things but the club said it wanted mids as a priority. it remains a priority for them.and a legitimate one.
ffs deledio and martin, knights who was injured king macdonough even a edwards and petterd along with s edwards then throw in the fact we took lloyd and gordon in the nd as well and id say they had covered the sml/med fwd problems in the short term at least. id  say they have  failed in their mission to take a mid at 12.
again im not having a go at lennon he may turn out okay time will be the judge of that and as you say we need a decent half fwd but at 12 no thanks he must be more than that in time.nope  im critical of those in charge when they say yep we desperately need mids and they go out and draft flankers with high draft picks.
