Was thinking Vlaustin looked tired then later on heard he was getting iced up. Just give him a rest no need to break him.

Ch7 news showed him with Chaplin today going in for a scans, didnt say for what

Believe I read he was iced on the shin?

He certainly was limping after the game and struggling to run in the last qtr
Got a kick to the left shin in the 3rd Quarter. Didn't look right after that.

Yep, reckon they would have subbed him if not for Astbury's hamstring problem

Gee you would think that with the way we picked up Chaplin there are some other possible older recruits available. Watching Lake in the week end I wouldn't moind slipping him into the team. Did we miss an opportunity there? Imagine if we had recruited him as well??

And another mature kpp back would hamper development of Grimes. Astbury. France etc.

First back 6

Morris. Grimes. Chaplin.
Houli. Raaance. Ellis.

 2nd.

Dea. Darrou. Astbury.
Helbig. McIntosh. Bachelor.

Griffiths. Mcbean. Elton can play key back.

Poor governance, and poor governance alone has hampered the development of France.  >:(

The Barometer - Round 14
Herald-Sun
Tuesday, June 25

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Close watch this week on key defenders Troy Chaplin and David Astbury. Damien Hardwick says scans cleared Chaplin of structural damage after he twisted his knee late in Saturday night's win against the Bulldogs. Astbury was subbed out with a "minor hamstring strain". But given the injury history of both, the club won't take any risks. In terms of form Nick Vlastuin had his first poor game and Matty White kicked a goal but is a regular in this section.

ON THE CUSP: Not much to cheer about from Coburg's 44-point loss to Casey Scorpions, although with tall backs needed it's noteworthy that Jake Batchelor, Matt Dea and Ricky Petterd all got through their returns from injury unscathed. Dea might be first in line for a call-up.

AL PATON'S FORECAST: Richmond got the job done with minimum fuss against the Dogs and although there is talk the Tigers are only beating teams below them on the ladder, the higher you get the more teams there are beneath you to beat. St Kilda this week offers another chance to consolidate a place in the eight. Get on Jack Riewoldt to kick a bag - he's booted 15 in his past two games against the Saints.

Will be interesting the decisions they make this week. Do they rate Saints and the importance of this game - if so they may play Chaplin even if he is not 100%, if not then they won't risk him even if he is near full fitness.

My early call is they will rest Chaplin, Astbury but play Vlaustin.

They will replace them with Batchelor and Dea (Nahas in as sub if Flossy rested).

Am worried they may stretch us for height though....

They have been playing Stanley forward but I think we may be in luck and they have to play him back with no Fisher and Simpkin. Means they'll have Kosi and Riewoldt to stop. Griff and Rance for me. Batch can play 3rd tall.

RICHMOND - In the Mix

Troy Chaplin faces an uphill battle to prove his fitness after hurting his knee last week against the Bulldogs while David Astbury injured his hamstring and will also be monitored. There are reinforcements nearing availability with Jake Batchelor, Matt Dea and Ricky Petterd making returns from injury in the VFL last weekend. Shane Tuck is getting closer to returning from the shoulder injury he sustained in round seven. - Jennifer Phelan

If Astbury and Chaplin are both out then bringing in Bachelor who plays tall will not be enough. We'l still be too short down back. Griff is one option but he hasnt been doing much for Coburg. We may seriously have to bring in Maguane to play in defense. Bachelor and Rance will not suffice IMO.

McGaune is crap as a FF for coburg. it would be two steps backwards to play him in defence.

if astubry and chaplin must be griff and Bachelor/Dea
