We can't afford to finish that low. Our currently players need to learn to win together again. The pick will take care of itself. I used to be one to hang my hat on early picks but in the end teams like Collingwood, Sydney etc show us it really doesn't matter in the end. Its all about development and culture.
you still dont get it. they arent capable or good enough to win.we havent gone backwards that much. players reached their potential in some cases they played out of their skins there is no more upside to em.  also most  other sides have improved while we stagnate and dont have the ability to improve..
im not sure what part of middling people dont understand.  middling implys we cant get near up and going top sides. it means there are a shedload of teams in a similar place which makes most games at least 50/50 and it means bottom sides are in with some sort of sniff if we are not close to our best.

stripes you keep on hanging your hat and hopes on 2013 and making finals. making finals is not some sort of panacea its a place where an awful lot of middling sides finish every yr, go ask ess or nm or even melb from 6 yras ago. go ask wce what middling means.

the only thing that determines how good your team is and what it is capable of is your list its overall depth and its overall quality.
our list is middling to bottom 4. it truly lacks depth in most areas and it lacks quality in most areas. to top it off there are few quality kids coming thru.  thing is  it is capable of making  finals if everything falls our way you only need look at 2013.

as for picks the only picks that rabble  can get right or spot on is top 3 picks. if a low finish bottom 3 is what it takes to get quality into our list so be it. we can afford to finish bottom 3 in fact it would be smart to go down that path.

the path is play as many of the younger blokes as possible. put a line thru players now who wont be there come seasons end and dont play em. try and keep structure and enough experience around the younger blokes so we remain competetive dont cop hidings. if we win games doing this so be it.

if you think we cant do with the best possible picks with the way our recruiting is you are well and truly kidding yourself. in two  or 3 drafts we could get the list to where it is a genuine consistent finals list that should be the aim.
but first we have to get our heads out of our arses stop overrating everything and do some hard yards and make some hard decisions.

TANK TIME!
DEVELOPMENT TIME.  Big difference.

chaplin, a edwards s edwards, foley, gordon, lloyd, grigg, houli, jackson, king, knights, maric, newman, petterd, riewoldt, stephenson, hampson, thomas, vickery, rance,  banfield, cotchin deledio
thats our most experienced 23 24  players  give or take 4 or 5 you would not miss the rest if they walked tomorrow.

ffs play the younger blokes find out who can play send the rest packing with the myriad of players listed above.

let me ask how many games are we going to win those mentioned above.and if we win with them how sustainable is it. we dont have quality matureplayers and with out doubt we are better off at the least trying to find better than most of them named.

the sad part is most of those mentioned have been better than a lot of players we have cut emphasising just how far back we have come from.

seasons over tank is the only option for us now.

Claw is spot on we cant get a root in a brothel but we surely couldn't screw up a top selection.

or lets continue with the winning culture that won us 15 games only to get embarrassed by the blues.
