Cogs, a good poller when he's played full seasons, would be worth a couple of pesos at $251.

just give the money to charity-at least someone benefits.

2 points lads.

1. Richo doesn't need a Brownlow. What would that prove that we don't already know? he is an idol, THE idol, of the most passionate fanbase in Aussie sport. That is worth 5 Brownlows.

2. At $101 brown is an interesting outside bet. he is all class. Remember him before he broke his leg? The man is a star. Apart from him BD at $81 is perhaps worth a speculative fiver.

Think so, don't expect him to play much if any midfield next year.  Pretty hard to win it playing as a specialist small forward.

Put the $5 on the GG's instead

Punter bets $25,000 on Cousins winning the Brownlow (WA today)

Punter bets $25,000 on Cousins winning the Brownlow
Tim Clarke | March 11, 2009 - 2:03PM

Despite Ben Cousins having just one low-key pre-season appearance for his new side Richmond - which he struggled to remember after suffering concussion - money has poured in from punters for the former Eagle to win a second Brownlow medal.

Having been placed at odds of $41 to take out the AFL's premier individual honour after his career resurrection by the Tigers, punters have found the odds too generous to resist - with one betting $25,000 on Cousins' returning to his former glories.

Michael Sullivan, CEO of betting agency Sportingbet Australia, said there had been a string of sizable bets placed on Cousins to crown his return to football with a Brownlow.

“We took one bet to win $25,000 at $41 and a number of other good sized bets on the way down to his current quote of $23,” Sullivan said.

“While Cousins is a quality player who has already got a Brownlow medal, it would be an enormous effort to come back from a year out of the game to be the best player in the competition.

“He will be in a Richmond side which will improve and will compete with another veteran in Matty Richardson who is a proven Brownlow vote getter.”

Geelong star Gary Ablett remains the favourite to finally win the medal, with another ex-Eagle captain Chris Judd and WA-born superstar Lance Franklin close behind.

I think poor old cogs might struggle to play 5-10 games this year.I wish him well.

$1 million Ben Cousins (Herald-Sun)

$1 million Ben Cousins
Adam Hamilton | March 13, 2009

BEN Cousins has been backed to win more than $1 million in Brownlow Medal betting.

Betting shops Darwin Sportsbet, Sportingbet Australia and Eskander's Betstar all said Cousins was by far their worst result after a flood of money this week.

And TAB Sportsbet, always the biggest player in Brownlow betting, faces a payout of almost $450,000 if Cousins wins.

Cousins, 31 in June, is chasing his second Brownlow after winning it as a West Coast player in 2005.

Only three players have won the Brownlow aged 31: Nathan Buckley (2003), Barry Round (1981) and Kevin Murray (1969).

Darwin Sportsbet's Phil Hannah said Cousins had been backed from an average of $41 to $26 or shorter this week.

He is into $21 equal third favourite with Lance Franklin at TAB Sportsbet. Only Gary Ablett ($7) and Chris Judd ($8) are shorter.

"It's been a very serious go right across the board. You'll find the punters have bet everywhere," Hannah said.

"The biggest single bet we've taken was $2000 on Cousins at $34 on Wednesday. Cousins, Gary Ablett and Chris Judd are the three the punters have focused on with us, but Cousins is our worst result.

"We're standing him for almost $200,000."

Betstar's Nick Heathcote said Cousins was a good result for his book until Wednesday, when a punter wagered $3400 at $31, standing to collect $105,400.

"He's now a $150,000-plus payout for us, which makes him our worst," he said.

"We've slashed his odds to $17 after giving $41."
