Would be interested to view some footage of when he first came on the scene and compare to now. Is it possible that sometimes these players are over coached in terms "roles" and strategies and simply become unnatural footballers.

Captain's curse? Bad ruckwork from Hampson? It was a weird round for top en midfielders in general. Ablett, Dangerfield, Kennedy fired of course but Cotchin, Pendles, Fyfe had days they'd rather forget.

Maybe adjusting to the interchange cap also?

reckon that's a really interesting point

And Yep I think players can certainly be over coached

Also wonder and have for quite a while how much being captain has impacted on his game.

Or undercoached.
Either way  I think Cotchins issues are head demons, commonly referred to as Tigeritis.

Good point, was actually thinking this of Dusty as well
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Yep. Bloke used to run riot and kick booming goals from 50+ meters all the time. I used to love it. Fondly remember him smashing one from the centre square against Melbourne in his second year I think it was.

Now he looks like he's on a bit of a leash. Don't like it as much...

Er yep.
I'd add Alex Rance but it has worked really well given the position he plays and his ability to judge the situation to distinguish defence from attack

its not really, considering it makes no sense at all

Chimp was a jet... Won the brownlow at 22 years old

Then one game Dimma played him hurt. And re hurt his leg vs freo

And played the next week, again...

Not been the same since. If Dimma was a soccer this would be unforgivable ...
Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

Did Cotchin have his right knee bandaged in the second half?  He looked slow on the idiot box?
