Tigers launch “Coming Home Hero”
Tony Greenberg
March 21, 2014 3:23 PM

Richmond will pay special tribute to its former players, who left an indelible mark at Tigerland, with a new home-game theme for MCG games throughout the 2014 season.

The “Coming Home Hero” is designed to publicly recognise the mighty deeds of those who wore the famous Yellow and Black jumper with such distinction.

The concept will be launched at the MCG next Thursday night (March 27), when the Tigers take on Carlton in a Round 2 blockbuster clash.

One Richmond legend is to receive due recognition during the pre-game build-up at each Richmond MCG home fixture (10 in total) for season 2014.

Marty McGrath - we finally bought him a home!
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

The Tigers will pay a special tribute to their four-time premiership player and Team of the Century member during the pre-game build-up at Thursday night’s Round 2 blockbuster against arch-rival Carlton at the MCG.

Green, who played 146 games for Richmond in two stints – 1966-71 and 1973-75 – will walk from the centre of the ground to the Punt Road end, where he’ll receive due recognition from the Tiger Army.

Tickets are on sale for Thursday night's big clash against Carlton. Buy your tickets here.

He will then proceed to kick a ceremonial goal, before signing the ball and handing it to a Richmond fan in the crowd.

Highlights of Green’s stellar career at Tigerland will be shown on the big screen during this time.
