Had a shocker but I'd suggest that being moved every 10 minutes to plug holes created by others didn't help his cause.... :shh

UNSIGNED YOUNG TIGER PLAYING “UNBELIEVABLE FOOTBALL”

BY SEN
12 April 2021

Richmond has locked away some key players in recent times.

Nick Vlastuin, Dion Prestia and Dylan Grimes – all three-time premiership players – have resigned with the Tigers, while Noah Balta also re-committed to the club.

But one young Tiger remains unsigned.

Shai Bolton is without a deal for next year and Kane Cornes is intrigued by the Western Australian's contract status after playing “unbelievable football” to start 2021.

“Have Richmond failed to sign their most important player?” Cornes asked on SEN Breakfast.

“Vlastuin, Prestia, Grimes have all signed contract extensions - Shai Bolton is the one that is unsigned, and he is playing unbelievable football.

“I’d be nervous if he remains unsigned.”

Bolton’s manager Ralph Carr says his client has pledged to stay at Punt Road after playing a key role in Richmond’s back-to-back premierships.

The 22-year-old is averaging 18.5 disposals and 4.5 clearances per match in 2021.

Bolton isn’t the only premiership Tiger unsigned beyond this year.

Jack Riewoldt, Shane Edwards, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jason Castagna, Daniel Rioli, David Astbury and Bachar Houli all come out of contract at season’s end.

Bolts had a shocker in the Swans game but I thought he was back to looking dangerous again at the centrebounces against Port in the second half. He was only used in there 35% of the time though according to the AFL webite. Shai destroyed the Saints in the final last year so hopefully he is back and Dimma can use him more often in the centre this week. We will need Bolts' explosive moves against St Kilda at the stoppages.

Good to see Bolts returning to form after his Swans shocker two weeks ago. He really is a weapon when he is played in the middle and winning centre clearances.

Again showing off his absurd ability to change direction on a dime.

One of the journos predicted a couple of years ago and that was about to be elite for this exact reason, can't remember who. But anyway, his clearance work was top shelf. Looks like a Shane Edwards MK2 or possibly even better.

Laid a great tackle in the first quarter which should have been rewarded.

There was an article recently where his manager was quoted saying he isnt going anywhere and loves Tigerland.
Don't think there is anything to worry about.

I believe Ralph there, but will be waiting with bated breath until he is signed up.

After five rounds of the 2021 season, Shai Bolton is Richmond’s No. 1 ranked clearance and centre-clearance player.

WA clubs urged to tempt Shai Bolton with a "sweetheart deal" (SEN)

WA CLUBS URGED TO TEMPT YOUNG TIGER WITH A “SWEETHEART DEAL”

By Alex Zaia
SEN
20 April 2021

Richmond will look to secure the future of Shai Bolton with a new contract.

Bolton’s current deal at Punt Road expires at the end of the season with his manager Ralph Carr saying the emerging star has pledged to stay with the Tigers.

Drafted out of WAFL club South Fremantle with pick No.29 in the 2016 National Draft, the 22-year-old’s stocks are continuing to rise as each year goes by.

Dermott Brereton, who is a huge admirer of Bolton, thinks Western Australian clubs should be looking to lure the midfielder back to his home state.

“If there was one midfielder you want to get on the rise before he does become an uber wage player, it’s Shai Bolton,” Brereton told SEN’s Bob and Andy.

“If I’m a Western Australian club, similar to what happened with Tim Kelly, I’m giving Shai Bolton a sweetheart deal to come home.

“How good is this kid? When he goes through the midfield right now, he’s an A-grader. He’s just got so many great midfielders in that team – (Trent) Cotchin, (Dion) Prestia, Dustin Martin when he goes in – so there’s the three starters if they have their own call about it.

“He’s an A-grader now. He’s electric, mate. He’s unbelievably good.”

Bolton, a dual premiership player, is averaging 20.6 disposals and five clearances per game in 2021.
