Mike Sheahan on 3AW 10/6/09
« on: June 10, 2009, 07:02:15 PM »
Mike with Healy and Russell tonight on 3aw...

* Mike was asked what do you expect from the Tigers now. Some people expect them to tank while others say they'll win games?
Mike says we'll win more games than the 2 under Terry. 40 blokes know the slates clean and they start afresh. Hopes Deledio says it is the start of his year the way he has been playing. Same goes for the others. He expects us to beat the Eagles. Said Kane Johnson mentioned yesterday confidence is a major thing. If they had beaten Melbourne they may have not been in this situation. Expects us to win 4 of our remaining games.

* Terry still wanted to win games so the older guys like Pettifer got games. He then said I shouldn't have mentioned Pettifer as he always gets mentioned. The mandate Jade has accepted is to play the kids. Vickery is obviously a start.

* Mike would go with Malthouse all things being equal as our coach next year but Mick looks like staying at Collingwood. Malthouse isn't long in the tooth. He hasn't lost his fire.

* Free, Cameron and Jeff Bond part of the coaching subcommittee now. March and Wright will join in later on.

* The intriguing question is why isn't someone like Sheeds on the panel. Whispers says Sheeds was asked but he wasn't interested. Sheeds turned it down because he's still hurt on the coaching front.

* Whispers says the outside consultant is big in sport management and a Tiger man - Ben Crowe.

* Mike said you would think instead of a psychologist (Jeff Bond) or a sports management you would have more football nous on this coaching subcommittee. Sure you need to do psych tests but that is done later on. Of course Sheeds name was brought up again.

* Mike reckons James Hird will coach within the next 3 years but not necessarily at Essendon. He doesn't know where James will go.

* A caller said Mike was a bit hars_e on Deledio as he's had a good but not stellar year. Caller blamed Wallace's use of Lids. Whenever the game had to be won Terry had Lids out of the action. Mike said Lids doesn't work hard enough for someone with his speed and attributes.

* Another caller suggested we needed a hardnut the players would listen to like Robert Harvey. Mike said he's doing an apprentice at Carlton and would he want a senior job yet.

Why is it again I can start to see the writing on the wall for the future?? We have just had Cameron admit that the selection process was not professional when selecting Wallace and we are at it again....... learn Richmond......learn..... :help :banghead

The critics are already at us and we haven't even started the selection process, the only way we should do this is to have the media personnel vote for their prefered coach and get them in... :whistle

we'd be stupid if we aim to win more than 5 games for the season.

just play the kids for the future, hopefully we lose close games, but if we win, then it's a bonus.

i thought that it was bleedin obvious that we have evolved from a situation where there was NO process, simply a headhunt of TW...at the very least a panel has been assembeled, Id like it to be a little more broard but it's a good start :gotigers

Ah Bojangles why is it so bleedin obvious that we have evolved, remember the appointment of Wallace well mate we HAD a process then too apparently. We also had a panel which included external parties and David Parkin. At the moment we have no one on the panel that resembles a sucessful player & coach such as Parkin....... :gotigers

Exactly, have a look who's on the panel
An ex-captain of a crap team who couldn't kick and wouldn't know success if a pre-scratched jackpot winning scratchie was handed to him, a guy who developed the list of the worst team in the comp (even though they beat us) and only got the job as new director of football cause no one else wanted the job, plus our psychologist who seems to have made our fairy floss players even softer and on arriving at the RFC said they were the most professional organisation he'd seen.

Later it's going to be joined by March who is very unconvincing and should have been ensuring his own company wasn't haemorrhaging money rather than being on the Richmond board and our very good CEO who is not a football person.

What an absolute joke. Get some bloody experts in like every other club does.

Finally somone else who can see what is going on, hang around Infamy... ;).

We need to follow the way Geelong and Hawthawn went about it or look completely outside the box and follow the way another code goes about it. But for Gods sake don't follow the process with current contributers to the clubs position now or with ex players that went out of the game many many years ago.

On 6PR last night Karl & Barra were pumping up Peter Sumich's chances to coach Richmond.........but in the same breath questioning whether he would want to coach a team like Richmond.

After listening to that I hope we destroy the eagles.....despite the consequences.

That's why those buffoons said it.
We beat them even once they will have no more than 5 wins. Priority pick for the Weagles along with the Dees.
