Finals 2008
« on: August 18, 2008, 10:25:27 PM »
the odds are not great, but do we have some belief that "The Australian Football Gods" will help Richmond make the 2008 Finals with Collingwood and St Kilda losing the next two matches ???

We'll finish with more than 11 wins and it won't be enough... AGAIN

Nup.

Pies own the Swans and then have Fre-woe and unless Nick Riewoldt goes down and 19 Bombers suddenly are cured of their injuries by some miracle the Saints will win to keep us out.

Sydney dropping out is a more realistic chance than Collingwood or the Saints. We have to hope that we beat Freo and the Dees by a significant margin and the Swans get spanked in both their games.

Realistically we will probably finish 9th and strangely enough i am not unhappy with that.  :P A great launching point for the future!

Not really, they have the draw and a percentage 20% higher than ours, even if we won two games and the swans none, we'd need to gain a points difference in our next two matches of over 300 points to even get close. Given the swans low scoring games, I can't see them dropping a significant percentage, even if they lose both their last two.

Although the Pies have the wood over the Swans since 2005 none of their games in Melb have been at the Dome where the Swans can play their flooding game infinitely better. A trip to Freo on a Friday night the following week will be very dangerous for the Pies. Hopefully Freo turn up to play. Of the two teams I think the Pies are the ones most likely to miss out at our expense but I jest get the feeling again that we have a mortgage on 9th place 2 rounds out. :banghead

After seeing the injury-riddled Bombers try their hardest last night yet still get thumped, the Pies choking seems to be our only hope now  :-\

Either Collingwood or St Kilda have to lose both their remaining games and Brisbane lose one of theirs.

We can kiss it goodbye thanks to the Swans once again playing at their worst against the Pies  ::). Pies up by 7 goals.

The Blues are just on top of the Lions so far.

Brisbane are gone. Lost by a goal. The Blues came back from 32 down at 3/4 time to pinch it.

So we're now ninth and it's all down to what the Saints do. The Crows have a good chance of knocking them off tomorrow but I can't see the injury-riddled Bombers beating the Saints even with the emotion of veterans Jason Johnson, Peverill and Rama playing their last ever game.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Now my bet with the Carltanker comes down to the last game.

If they beat Hawks Sat Night and we then lose to Melbourne I am gunna have to leave town  :banghead
