Richmond FC 2014 National Draft Strategy?

Well it looks like after Collingwood belt us next week that our season will just about be done and dusted. I was gonna put this thread up next week but why wait.

What should Richmond do for the next National Draft, Trade Period and Free Agency as well as the Pre Season and Rookie Drafts.

Who should retire and who should get the arse?

And should Richmond FC and Blair Hartley finally realise that Moneyball in AFL doesnt work and its a load of poo that only allows club to get to mid table and no further.

And should the club chase a really "Big Name Player" or should we stick to recruiting rejects from other clubs.

What should the club do to save the Hardwick Rebuild of the Richmond FC before its too late?

Well we should stick to our recruiting guns. Don't go for any stars during free agency, forget trading for talent and pick the smallest, skinniest, shortest, least talented and least skilled young players in the land.....yep, that should just about do it.

Chucky I will make the final pronouncement some weeks down the track but right now I'd suggest that the rebuild is in Hospital Emergency Department and the Doctors are running around desperately looking to see what they're going to do!

Hardwick would play him down back for the first year or so to develop his defensive game.

I agree. Knowing for 12 months they'd most likely end up with Boyd I've been saying we need to have a massive crack at Patton. We can't rely on drafting our own at 18 because he would take too long to mature and there are none others realistically gettable. I'm not sure of his contract status to be honest but I know they have something like 12 early draft picks out of contract and it looks like it is entirely their intention to trade them. They'd be after quality mature bodies and I don't know what we realistically have to offer since we've locked away some of our younger better talent on long term contracts and some others we can't afford to lose. Would have to be someone like Griff I guess.

 Mundy & Ibbotson. Young ruck, big  fullback. Pace, poise, footskills & hunger. Don't target specialist smalls unless they're ones right out the box like Cyril. Mids, mids , mids & more mids. Forget the recycled mature fringe player moneyball crap. Rookie kids - and some x-factor blackfellas. Forget Dudley Do-Right psych profiles. Trade into the draft. Griffith & Riewoldt should more than do for now if played & coached properly. Throw everything at Cameron 2015.I'd be starting that process now. Any Victorian club that doesn't move heaven & earth to try and land the next Wayne Carey will be derelict in their duty to their supporters.

Jarrod Pickett. We will probably get a pick high enough if we can't beat the Dogs. He can rot in the VFL because he's too fast to play AFL and then we will delist him, Freo draft him and he plays in 2 flags.

I think our list is pretty good, need to get rid of a few and make the tough calls like geelong did with chappy.

Get rid of Newman, Pettard, Foley, Thomas. None of these players will get us or even help us to the promise land.

We need another quality assistant coach or two to help Dimma because he clearly needs it.

We need a better fitness coach. Clearly we are one of the most unfit teams in the AFL. Every week Port run out games really well, wish we got their bloke.

Trade or draft for a small forward which can kick goals and is silky. Defensive pressure can be taught easily.
Trade or draft for a speedster midfielder/flanker ( mat white ) that can kick x2
