SeniorsJeromey Webberley
Returned after a three-week injury lay-off. Started very well and looked like he was back to his usual sharp self, before fading in the second half.
Addam Maric
Had a really strong game offensively, picking up 28 possessions in his midfield role. Continues to use the ball very well and has performed at a consistently high level when playing for Coburg. Is now focusing on taking his defensive game to the next level.
Ben Darrou
Had a quiet game. We are looking for greater intensity in and around the contest from Ben, as we know when he gets hold of the ball that he is able to make very good decisions under pressure.
Angus Graham
Continues to spend significant time forward in a bid to develop his capabilities as a key forward. Turned in a solid performance, although he needs to capitalise on his opportunities, as he kicked 2.2 against Port, and 2.5 the previous week.
Jayden Post
Was very quiet. Played as a key forward and while he worked hard, he did not have the impact both he, and we, would have liked.
Andrew Browne
One of his best games for the year. Won plenty of hit-outs and picked up quite a few possessions around the ground. Was also dangerous when resting up forward.
Tom Derickx
Is improving each week. Beat his opponents on the day and took eight strong marks in defence. There are a couple of little areas he is working on, but, overall, we think he has the attributes to make the key defensive post his own.
Luke McGuane
Was relatively quiet, although he is still finding his touch after missing a month because of injury. We expect him to continue to improve each week. Is a very competitive player and he’s working really hard to make the transition forward a success.
Dave Astbury
Is still coming to grips with his return from such a long injury lay-off and would probably like to be progressing at a faster rate. Experienced some difficulty with the fast ball inside 50, but performed much better when released to a half-back sweeper role later in the game.
Steve Verrier
Showing really promising signs in his development. Played mostly on the wing against Port and displayed an ability to stay over the footy and use it well once he gained possession.
Development LeagueTodd Elton
Lined up in the Development League due to the high number of key-position players in Coburg’s side at the moment. Relished the opportunity to play 100% game time, taking several good, contested marks and kicking five goals.
Piva Wright
Also played in the Development League for similar reasons to Todd, and performed well. Showed his capacity for reading the play, and took a number of intercept marks. We are looking for greater intensity from him at the contests to take his game to the next level.
Gibson Turner
Showed improvement in his second game back following calf surgery. Has an excellent ability to find the ball, but needs to become more instinctive when he releases it, to bring teammates into the game.
Gideon Simon
Our recruit from Papua-New Guinea is spending six weeks with us in his quest to be put on the Club’s international rookie list at the end of the year. Is extremely fast, has very good skills, and has impressed in his two matches with Coburg so far.
Kelvin Moore
Played 75% of game time in his second match back from his long-term injury problems and found plenty of the ball. It was also great to see him take a couple of big hits and get straight back up. Will be ready to play VFL seniors in the next week or two.
