Some welcome good news at Punt Rd.

It'll be announced tomorrow that AFG will re-sign as major sponsor for 2008 with an option for 2009. The ball park figure was $1 million.

With Motorola 99% gone at the end of the year, last night's win on Friday night prime time tele was good timing for the hunt for a new major co-sponsor.

ive always thought a big club would find one of the biggest consumer products companies ie. Unilever or Proctor and Gamble and do a major sponsorship-ground sponsorship deal all in one. Imagine for example doing a deal for say $1.5 million to $2.0 million a year with Unilever- We could advertise one of there global brands ie. Lipton Tea on our jumpers and provide advertising all around Punt Rd Oval for most of there other brands. Or Proctor & Gamble- you could have Gillette on the jumper and do the advertising boards around punt road with all of P&Gs products. We dont utilise Punt Rd oval well enough for mine.

Tigers hit a home run with AFG

In a significant off-field boost, Richmond has announced that Australian Finance Group (AFG) will continue its co-major partnership of the Club for the 2008 season.

The AFG logo will remain on the back of the Richmond guernsey for the Club’s centenary year of VFL/AFL football in ’08.

It will be the fourth year of AFG’s involvement with the Tigers.

“We’re delighted to have AFG on-board again as our co-major partner,” said Richmond’s CEO Steven Wright.

“Their continued strong support of us, across various areas of the Club, is certainly greatly appreciated, particularly after what has been a tough year at Tigerland.”

Executive Director of AFG, Malcolm Watkins, expressed similar sentiments about the flourishing partnership.

“AFG is proud to continue its support for Richmond Football Club. Recent performances aside, Richmond is without doubt one of the great AFL clubs, with a lot of history. Everything takes time to build and strengthen, and we look forward to being alongside Richmond in its quest for future successes.,” Mr Watkins said.

“One of the commercial objectives from sponsoring the Tigers is to raise the profile of our company and its network of brokers across Australia. To date, this has proven to be very effective and we look forward to 2008 and being part of this great Australian game.”

We could have more billboards along the far side embankment of the oval facing Punt Rd. Those triangular billboards. One side facing the Oval and use the other two sides for traffic both ways along Punt Rd.

If we're talking tea bring back Tetley  ;D
