The forgotten first-rounder

Richmond's talented youngsters and first-round draft picks Brandon Ellis (2011) and Nick Vlastuin (2012) have quite rightly earned the plaudits for their amazing seasons this year. But fellow youngster, and fellow first-round pick, Reece Conca (2010) showed why the future is bright at Tigerland. Conca missed a little more than a month with a foot injury, but made up for lost time against the Bulldogs by gathering 21 possessions and kicking two goals in an impressive display.

Not sure that he would return the affection considering the epithet you've given him.

Richmond's developing midfield depth is personified by third-year midfielder Reece Conca.

Conca, in just his second game back in the senior side after being sidelined for six weeks with a foot injury, starred against the Western Bulldogs with 21 disposals and two goals.

Hardwick said he expects plenty of improvement for Conca, who adds toughness and class to an already star-studded midfield.

Conca's role, like so many of his lesser-known teammates, will be pivotal towards the business end of the season.

"He (Conca) is certainly finding his feet. What he has got is an uncanny ability to find his teammates through the heat of traffic," Hardwick said.

Conca finds his feet

“I pulled up a little bit sore from the first game back early in the week, but recovered nicely, and I thought it was just a nice, solid game,” Conca told “Roar Vision”.

“It was good to get a couple of goals and really contribute that way.

“I’m hopefully going to build from that, get some match fitness back to its peak, and just play my role for the team.”
