Entry fee? :shh

Entry fee? :shh
Not normally free for VFL games proper
It's round 1 not a Praccy match so Footscray members should get in as members and visiting members will have to pay. Will only cost you about $10

Not sure on that one. It says on Bulldogs site it is a gold coin donation. Or is that for Doggies supporting non-members only ? :huh
Here's the link.

Having read it I think it's talking about this
"Take home a piece of Whitten Oval history:
The first 200 fans through the gates at the inaugural Footscray Bulldogs clash will also recieve a historic 1954 minted half-penny to celebrate footy being back at Victoria University Whitten Oval. These limited edition coins were minted in the Bulldogs Premiership year of 1954, adding a special significance.
Make sure you arrive at VU Whitten Oval early to collect your own piece of Bulldogs history.
Cost: Free for Western Bulldog members. Non-members: Gold coin donation"
DOnt think it has got nothing to do with entry
Actually thinking about it, it maybe free because Whitten Oval is a community venue these days = no fencing, no gates to go through
-
1030am start, you'd have to be joking , ::)
-
They can stick their gold coins....we already subsidise these minnow clubs enough as it is....

61. Ben Waite
DOB: 30.06.84 | 188cm | 96.5kg
Recruited from: Tatura Football and Netball Club
This big-bodied key forward has the versatility to also play in defence and has had VFL experience at multiple clubs. He played the 2013 season at Tatura with teammates James Wall and Rian McGough, and his on-field aggression, tackling and contested marking make him a valuable recruit. The natural leader will be vocal and encouraging for his younger teammates.

Ummm..McBean has been rucking. Pretty sure that counts as development.
-
Darrou and mcintosh are reasonable developing kpd. The back six looks strong
McBean can ruck, no?

Struggling to get it forward. Dogs are getting first hands to the footy more than us and even when we do, the Dogs are playing a loose man in defence (we aren't so we should have a spare man at the stoppage but it isn't helping).
21 - 38
-
they are belting seven shades of poo out of us
-
Getting flogged by their vfl players.
-
McDonough misses. First score for the 2nd term to us.
Rich 3.4-22
Foots 9.3-57
2/3rds the way through the 2nd qtr.
-
Darou going ok.
-
Brilliant gather and run down the wing by McDonough sets up a goal for Wall.
Dogs respond immediately so still 35 pts down.
-
Half-time
Richmond 3.3 4.5-29
Footscray 6.1 11.4-70
Goals: Elton, Barlow, Batsansis, Wall
-
41 down at half time, I am not sure how this score line adds to the development of our players??
-
We have no ruck ?
-
it depends how you see development. for me if the reserves can produce 2 or 3 players a year for senior action and those players can come through then for me the reserves will be a total success if they win every game and become premiers but dont produce any players then for me that would be a total failure. Its how you set the criteria for development. just my opinion.
-
Bests (according to Az Edwards):
Miles is doing well.
Looking more from Foley.
Helbig crashing in hard.
Elton standing tall as our only dominate tall.
Need more from others. Backs and outside mids need to spread more with the ball as we are going too laterally.
Edit: McDonough finding a lot of the ball according to RFC VFL twitter.
-
Agree Ramps, not sure why people are so hung up on the reserves results especially this early on? Coaches will want certain players playing and developing a particular role that will suit the senior team should they get the call up - which wont always suit or serve the reserves with the best chance of getting the result.
When young players are dropped from the seniors to reserves they are given a list of things to work on, - at Coburg with the limited numbers it wasn't always possible for our players to play the specific role our coaches wanted - now they can and that's more important than results for mine
-
Helbig and Miles leading the Tigers stats to half time.
-
Helbig and Miles leading the Tigers stats to half time.
Miles should be in the ones. He seems to be a very good young player.
-
We'll be a much better side with both Miles and Arnott in the side imo

Exactly, I've been banging on about it all along
VFL side is about development first and results 2nd
No point in stressing about the VFL results ;D
-
How do you figure that when we are getting pumped by 12 goals to 1 since qtr time that we are developing?? How the hell can our players develop when they don't touch the ball???
-
Stats to half-time: Helbig 14 disposals, Young 12, Lennon 11, Miles 11.
Three 50m penalties we've given away in this 3rd term.
Rich 4.6-30
Foots 16.6-102
26 mins Q3
-
72 points down now and apparently becoming undisciplined.......great development. ::)
-
I thought we had a good team
-
3/4 time
Richmond 3.3 4.5 4.6-30
Footscray 6.1 11.4 18.6-114
Goals: Elton, Barlow, Batsanis, Wall
16 goals to 1 since midway of the first term.
-
Goals to Batsanis and Wall since 3/4 time but the Dogs now lead by over 100 pts.
Rich 6.6-42
Foots 24.8-152
-
Anyone who accepts this result as developing our players is delusional!!
-
Goals to Batsanis and Wall since 3/4 time but the Dogs now lead by over 100 pts.

Foots 24.8-152

-
Lloyd goal. He's been off target today (1 goal, 1 behind, 2 OOTF).
Rich 7.6-48
Foots 25.9-159
-
Batch just got reported with 5 mins to go :P.
Darrou may have been reported as well earlier in the game [unconfirmed].
-
Final Score
Richmond 3.3 4.5 4.6 7.6-48
Footscray 6.1 11.4 18.6 26.9-165
Goals: Batsanis 2, Wall 2, Elton, Lloyd, Barlow

Ummm..McBean has been rucking. Pretty sure that counts as development.
oh okay so mcbean is a ruckman now wish you lot and the club would make your minds up.
i have just one question. what exactly does mcbean look most like becoming. i will give a hint front line ruck is not one of em so where in hell is the developing ruckman..
where in hell is the developing kpds and elton aside where in hell are the kpfs.
aand just to finish the problem at coburg has been the thrashings week after week seems now we have our own team those thrashings continue. you wont develop jack poo under those circumstances.
for me if you cant even compete you dont question development but the quality of the players in your system. are our magoos good enough.
to me the reserves should be an exact mirror of the seniors in those reserves you should have a dozen players who can come in and perform at senior level when injuries hit or poor form arises. yet the magoos are totally uncompetetive and any player coming in will be coming in on the back of hidings. yep just perferct for development and confidence eh.
-
117 point development drubbing, couldn't ask for better than that.. :lol
-
@RichmondVFL twitter:
"Batsanis, Miles, Helbig, Elton, Young, Arnot among the best for the Tigers. "
Reports: Batchelor, Darrou (unconfirmed)
McDonough didn't play after half-time but the commentators reckon it was due to his game-time being managed. They were saying the only positive was no injuries out of the game.
-
why would mcdonuts game be managed?
hes not coming off a long layoff?
-
why would mcdonuts game be managed?
hes not coming off a long layoff?
No idea either al but that's what they said.
-
sheesh all those mature players we took have added great depth but wait the magoos arent for creating a winning culture its about development and hidings. we are full on into developing mature types lol.
how many juniors played i count just 6 but its all about development unbelievable.
-
It's clearly a personal problem. I'd like to see the likes of Cotchin, Lids and Jack to drop back and give the kids a chop out. It's not fair these guys get regular senior gigs while our development side is getting flogged week in week out!
It's time these so called leaders stood up and helped the rest of the side out.
-
I've haven't been too impressed with Tim Clarke , he needs to be put on notice, that's a disastrous result

Footscray returns to VFL as victor over Richmond
Brent Diamond
The Age
April 5, 2014 - 6:03PM
FOOTSCRAY began life as a stand-alone VFL team in emphatic style with a 117-point win against Richmond in a return to the Dogs’ spiritual home at Whitten Oval on Saturday.
Fittingly, it was Ayce Cordy, the son of former Bulldog Brian who played many of his 124 games at the ground, who monstered Richmond defender Ben Darrou to kick five goals and become the game breaker in the third term.
Cordy, who has gained almost 20 kilograms since joining the Bulldogs as a father-son pick in 2008, appears to be finally on the brink of showing that he belongs.
The Bulldogs faithful didn’t disappoint also, with more than 5000 fans flocking to the match billed as a curtain-raiser for the AFL game just across town in the more modern facility of Etihad Stadium, which has been adopted as their new home.
Conversely, this was a sombre start for Tim Clarke’s Tigers. They were undermanned in defence, outrun in the midfield and their forwards barely gave a whimper.
Former Port Melbourne speedster Nathan Batsanis was one of the better performers with two goals, while ex-Greater Western Sydney midfielder Anthony Miles showed plenty of touch in the first half.
Former WAFL star Ross Young stood tall at times, while Brad Helbig and Todd Elton provided some highlights but there was little to rejoice about.
The writing was on the wall for the Tigers at half-time. They trailed by 41-points and were sliced apart in the midfield with Mitch Honeychurch providing plenty of drive while Tory Dickson, who finished with four majors, caused more headaches for the undersized Richmond defence.
On top of that, Jordan Russell along with co-captains, Nick Lower and Lukas Markovic, stamped their authority early. Tom Young and Brett Goodes, two strong-bodied midfielders, were outstanding and among the top possession getters.
After the main break, any chance of a Richmond comeback evaporated with Alex Greenwood – who played in Williamstown’s development team flag last season – snaring an early goal while Jake Batchelor gave away a 50 metre penalty to Cordy, who was having a day out.
Richmond midfielder Nathan Foley, who was quiet for the first half before getting his hands on the ball at half-back in the second half, continued the undisciplined acts by giving away the Tigers’ third 50 metre penalty for the term.
Cordy kicked his fourth goal just before three-quarter time and then his fifth came with another strong contested grab early in the final term. The Bulldogs thumping concluded at 26.9 (165) to 7.6 (48).
The Bulldogs were relentless and proved that with the right mix of youth and experience, they may well be strong contenders this season and are far more advanced than Richmond is at this early stage.
Russell, who played 125 AFL games for Collingwood and Carlton before being delisted last season, said he has impressed by the Dogs’ culture.
''I think just the culture of the place (has impressed me) ... everyone is on an equal playing field and everyone wants to play for the team and help each other out,'' Russell said.
Richmond, however, was missing Aaron Edwards, Liam McBean and Chris Knights. All three suffered injuries in last week’s VFL practice match win against Essendon, which was a stark contrast to what was dished up a week later.
Edwards, who suffered a medial ligament injury, said yesterday that he hopes to return to playing in two weeks.
Without him, their main focal point in attack was ex-Cat Ryan Bathie, who battled manfully but the Tigers lack of confidence in moving the ball forward was obvious.
Of more concern for the Tigers will be rough conduct charges for Batchelor and Darrou, who were both reported in the second half.
Richmond will revisit Coburg City Oval next Sunday when it takes on its former affiliate Coburg.

-
Best: Young, Batsanis, Miles, Arnot, Elton, Helbig
Ross Young 26 touches and five inside 50s.
Nathan Batsanis 20 disposals.
Brad Helbig 17 disposals, 10 marks.
Todd Elton 15 possessions and a goal.
Anthony Miles and Nathan Foley also found a lot of the ball.
Matt Arnot fought hard in packs to win clearances.
Jake Batchelor was a physical presence in the defensive 50.

Changes for VFL game 2
Ins: Grigg, Newman, King, Stephenson
Outs: McDonough, Arnot
-
:lol :clapping
-
Oh dear :help
-
Heard Roos talking about Hawthorn & Box Hill last night and he said something along the lines of good team's standards are always set in the twos. Which would make us Melbourne-esque at this point.
Mind you he coached the Swans who never really had a proper reserves side for most of his tenure there.
-
“Toddy Elton probably played the best game he’s played this year. He was outstanding in the ruck in Orren’s absence,” Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke said.
“Matty Arnot was very good and will push hard for senior selection this week.
“Milesy (Anthony Miles) was very good again. He had 28 or 29 touches and eight or nine clearances, so he’s leading the way inside.”
AFL-listed defender Jake Batchelor is unavailable for selection this week after he accepted a one-match suspension for rough conduct against the Bulldogs, while Ben Darrou will challenge a striking charge at tribunal this week.
