Onballer Jack Steele, a Greater Western Sydney academy player, has drawn interest from Richmond and the Saints, meaning the Giants may be asked to use their second-round pick on him.

Anybody got any info on this kid?
-
There's video on him on the AFL site but he looks like he's going to be a very good mid / resting forward. Kicks goals and gets his own ball. Second round pick would be fair IMHO.
-
Another miss😔😔 had a chance to rookie the kid last year after he missed the season with a knee injury now we want to offer our first round pick for him :lol

The lights are on but no ones home
Sack the list manager and director of football
To be a fly on the wall. "This bottom age kid has good potential and will be a high draft pick thw following year is over looked now. Shall we ve bold, and use our 4th rookie pick on him?"
"Well thats on option but i feel matt thomas would really add something short term"
-
Forget it he has gone. End thread.

Dud. Delist

In the end we bidded for Brisbane's academy player Liam Dawson and not Steele.
Richmond bid pick 31 on Liam Dawson, which the Lions matched with pick 41.

fj would know don't worry bout that, bet they thought none of the snoozers down here had heard of him :shh

Richmond is also believed to have made an enquiry about young GWS Giant Jack Steele, 19.

Lets trade for him and FO the Yarran deal
-
Not possible.
All the money, massively improved resources off field including staffing, yet we are not physically capable of getting a decent deal done for a quality player.
-
Why tease us with these types of threads???
We all know it we don't have the balls to pursue such a trade!!
-
true call why tell us we are chasing a young gun only been on the books for a year doubt they would even consider... But I like how they say tigers enquire about him I think we have probably done that to about 50 players this trade period
-
I enquired about Rolls Royce once... :whistle
-
Steele>Yarran. :shh
-
What's the deal with Steele? Can't say I know anything about him
-
He's hard, and can produce the goods.....
-
Yes, goes well this kid. If we can, would be a great pick up.

Why tease us with these types of threads???!
Because dreaming and hoping is as good as it gets
-
Q. Where did the Jack Steele rumours come from? He's not even a go home candidate as he came through the academy.
Chris Vernuccio - i think from us in today's paper! tigers have inquired, doesn't mean it has gone any further than that

i think the last 5 years have been a good return with picks 20-20, compared to the 5yrs before that.
Its a bit of luck and how good the recruiter is. Take 2011 for example better players found in picks 30-40

Well someone had to Albert. Your continual picks are arse rhetoric after 20 is actually incorrect.

wtf has my post you quoted got to do with this?
and what r picks 20-20?
that my ignorant little boy is the thought provoking part.
On to your statement, how do you judge how well these picks have gone?
I'm willing to bet it is a subjective view, which is just one persons opinion. if you want to make such claims you need a measurement to quantify what is a success.
but just out of curiosity, how many of 200+ picks taken after 20 in the last 5 years do you reckon are sucessfull. (and how do you determine success)?
-
Wish Richmond would stop 'enquiring' and start ripping players away from clubs under their noses like Collingwood does. By the time you hear about it players are basically Collingwood-bound.
Stuff enquiring just go steal one bloody hell...

Barrett tonight on the Footy Show said Richmond is looking very hard at Jack Steele from the Giants.

Nominated Collingwood. Missus wants to be Rebecca Judd's stylist.... :shh

Would be a very handy addition to our midfield. A good size and hard at the footy.
What would it cost us?
If we are going to be in the hunt for some of these guys, we are going to have to trade out a few of our own to gain the extra decent picks we may need.
Who REALISTICALLY would get us first or second round picks that are expendable? BEllis? Griff? Vickery? Conca?
Would you lose a wink of sleep if you never saw any of these guys in a Tigers jumper ever again?
-
Handy yes, hardworking yes but not elite, we will have so many vanilla style players we may as well change our strip to vanilla. We need bona fide elite skillful fast and strong midfielders otherwise we are just replacing same with same and will continue to tread water in this competition.

I think you're selling him short. His toughness and speed are elite. Gets his hands on the ball to. Would love him in a tiger jumper.

Tough call on a kid who has play 10 odd games in his first year of AFL footy in a side with excess first round picks all vying for a spot on ball.
I'd prefer to see him in the middle than Grigg, Townsend or Moore. Surely?
-
If he cements his spot this year, we'll be up against it as I'd imagine GWS would be fairly keen to keep him considering he actually comes from Sydney and I also doubt he'd want to leave his home town if he's getting games.

Yes, maybe (need some luck), yes, no unless we can trade to a club as stupid as us
No
-
Seeing so many here rate Bitchelor, surely he would be in the mix to trade, I mean we have so many players of the same ilk!!

Geez you are petty. Do you have to bring your personal little tiffs into every thread?
Never seen a poster quicker to dig up an old argument or say "I told you so".
-
according to the Prospectus Steele is a tackling machine with iffy kicking...... Townsend Mk II? having said that i do rate the kid. as for getting picks Vickery is an agent so if he left it'd get us a 2nd at least.

Really, here I was thinking this was a forum. Can't we discuss the potential Batchelor has a trade bait, seeing so many think he has worth??? What is personal about that, it's an open forum and we can discuss these issues.
Thanks very much I will take that as a compliment. :snidegrin
Now stick to the topic if you don't mind.. :thumbsup

If you think bachelor is rubbish - why would another club give anything decent for him
More so an expansion side who's list has been forged out of th best kids in australia over five years

i dont buy that argument.
dont we and still rate hampspud, grigg, chaplin and the big girl griffiths?
clubs can make dumb decisions and just because we dont rate them, doesnt mean fools like our club dont.

I am skeptical other clubs are as stupid as Richmond.
Especially the better runs ones

Saints join race for promising GWS mid
AFL.com.au
28 July 2016
ST KILDA has joined the race for promising Greater Western Sydney midfielder Jack Steele.
The 20-year-old missed last week with a fractured hand but has been a solid contributor in the Giants' star-studded midfield in his first two seasons playing 17 games.
He has played 10 games this season without dominating but he is a ball magnet in the NEAFL and an excellent in-and-under type at AFL level.
AFL.com.au understands the out-of-contract Steele is yet to consider his future beyond this season as he concentrates on regaining his spot in the Giants team as it heads into its first finals series.
The Saints are building a list with a strong mix of experience and youth and are understood to be keen on continuing to bolster its midfield.
They have performed well this season winning seven of their last nine games to remain a rough chance for a finals spot and are becoming an attractive proposition for emerging talent.
Steele has averaged 15 disposals in just his second year and looks a strong type who would complement the midfield at several clubs although the Giants are believed to be keen to retain him.
The Canberra-product was picked at selection No.24 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft after North Melbourne made a bid for him at pick No.15 under the AFL Academy Bidding System.
He made his debut in round 12 last season forcing his way into the line-up and performing well.
Steele has been linked in earlier reports with Richmond and Carlton and would be expected to have several suitors if he did decide to move from the Giants.

There's probably at least half a dozen gettable GWS players better than Steele or with a higher ceiling. Prefer Crouch from Adelaide if we're going for that type.
-
Move over Port and Carlton, GWS are our new obsession :clapping

Yes - so we can all marvel as Moneyblair & Danny Boy somehow manage to miss the 30 talented kids on their list and grab another Townsend... :gotigers
