Infamy is first off the rank with Melbourne's #1 pick.

the official time limit of 7 minutes has passed. Therefore Melbourne has forfeited its 1st pick in the national draft.

Sorry guys, been in meetings at work all day

Pick #1 - Jack Watts

No surprises here, he very well may not be the clear best talent in the draft, but he suits Melbourne's needs the most. They have deficiencies all over the ground, which is half the reason I chose them as it makes the picks easier.
Super quick 6'5" CHF with vice like hands and bottom aged to boot. Only knock on him is if he hits packs hard enough, he may need the Santa's Little Helper treatment when turning him into a guard dog. Some toothpicks holding the eyelids open with an onslaught of violent film into his subconscious may do the trick.

#2 West Coast - NicNat Ruckman 201cm 88kg

As tempting as Daniel Rich would be to add to our young midfield brigade of Selwood, Mastern and Erbert; Nata is too good to pass up. With Cox still having a solid 5 to 6 years left it allows him to develop at the WAFL for as long as he needs. Measured in some 2 inches shorter this time last year so fully expect him to potentially grow another inch or so. In two or three years when we have Cox as our first ruck, Nat as our second and Erbert, Selwood, mastern, etc running through the midfield we will be a tour de force again.

I hope Chuck17 does get here because I have a clear number 4 in mind since I think number 3 is pretty much locked in as well.
But if there is a 24 hour rule it will become a tough choice.  :help

Sorry guys busy at work and was at Poker last night

#3 Fremantle Daniel Rich

Given Fremantle need some young midfielders badly (plus a rest of a football side except a CHF) our choice was pretty much clear.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: tigersalive on October 31, 2008, 11:35:32 AM
#4 Port Adelaide - Tyrone Vickery - 200cm, 86kgs

With a clean out of young ruckman including the retirement of Hugh Minson and delisting of Fabian Deluca this year we really need a ruckman and we also believe that Tyrone is the best player available at pick 4.  In very mobile and has shown he can compete in the forward line when resting from ruck duties.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT

#5 Essendon - Chris Yarran (180cm, 84kg)

Solid midsized forward who at this stage can play in spurts in the midfield. Quick and elusive with good skills which suits Matty Knights' gameplan, Yarran played senior footy in the WAFL with Swan Districts kicking 39 goals from 13 games. He also has a habit of kicking 3s and 4s so often contributes even when quiet possession wise. He's been linked to Essendon given Ash Prescott now Bombers assistant coach use to coach Yarran at Clontarf and considers Yarran and Bomber Paddy Ryder the best and most talented two kids to come out of the indigenous academy. If he can get his endurance up to play longer in the midfield, Prescott and the Bombers see Yarran as a future Shaun Burgoyne.

Although we lack KPP players at either end of the ground, I think the difference between us missing finals and playing finals next season is how we set up from half back. A highly skilled, penetrating 'quarterback' is now the most important player in competition. That said, we, Carlton take Greg Tiven......

Just kidding.

#6 Carlton - Michael Hurley (192cm, 92kg)

Our midfield is quite strong now, we have some exciting ruck prospects so it's quite clear that we should now look to shore up our biggest deficiency, which is quality KPP.

Hurley is built ready to play football next year, and can play either end of the ground. Has football smarts and uses the football well.

I am sure Voss thinks that the fab four he was the main reason for the success of Brisbane and so he will be looking to build that up again. He and Lappin are gone, and Power and Black are not going to be there forever so he needs to get some now.

That means its a choice between Hartlett and Ziebell.

Brisbane Pick 7.  Hamish Hartlett

Leaves the Tigers with a difficult choice hey.

Id rather take Trengove than Jack Zieball. Zieball seems slow to me.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: mightytiges on October 31, 2008, 06:58:14 PM
The Cotch will probably post his choice late at night then go into hiding where it's safe  ;D.

The question mark over Trengove is how well he's recovered physically since ripping the hammy off the bone.

Whoever Ziebell goes to next year I can see one nutty supporter of that club bring a big bell to the game like a Freo fan use to do for Peter Bell.

Richmond select Jack Ziebell.

Very very tough choice.

Trengove did not come in to the equation.

It was always Ziebell or McKernan for the Tigers.

Ziebell wins on the basis of best available.

Ziebell isn't the quickest going around yes. But to say he's slow is not true. Elite kicking skills with hardness, good size and mongrel, I'd like to think I have made the right choice.

Who would you have selected?

If the real draft goes the same way as this then it could come down to these two as well. Blease (who did his AIS week with us) and Sidebottom would be other possibilities but we have a number of their type already.

Greg Williams wasn't quick either.

(Although the one game I played on him he seemed like greased bloody lightning)  :o

Blease is also a mad Richmond supporter

Anyway,

9) North Melbourne - Steele Sidebottom. North's midfield is either old or just poo. Steel will add a inside/outside ability. He can also go foward or back as required. Will also definatly play senior football in 09

WHich is why we also should not be considering Sidebottom.

McKernan has promise and Trengove has severe injuries in his past but is the superior player out of the 4 imo.

It's going to be a very tough call.

Adelaide select Shaun McKernan.

Infamy, who would you want playing off half back for the next 10 years?

JON who is fast but highly unskilled or Ziebell who is slow as you say but highly skilled and a typical hard nut?

I think that's an irrelevant question as there's no way I'd want to be picking a HBF with Pick 8
We need a kpp or midfielder with that selection

The only HBFs in our side should be gun junior mids who get pushed out of the midfield by even better players.

There is no way a kid who will at best be a HBF at AFL level should be considered "best available" at Pick 8 so I consider the point irrelevant

There's also no way a junior midfielder who has crap accelleration, and crap stamina would be considered "best available" at pick 8 either. Think of it this way, Dean Polo had around a 3 sec even 20m sprint time, but an elite 3km time trial and he's pretty average when it comes to his athletisism. Ziebell is not only fairly significantly slower in the sprint, but not even in the same league when it comes to stamina, so where does that leave him?
I have no problem with basing our picks on football ability over athletic testing, but when the kid is deficient in so many areas, we can't afford to use such a crucial pick on him.

Ok I think I have this right now, it is best available unless they are a hbf, bp, fp or hff or unless they are crap.

St Kilda - Pick #13 - Jackson Trengove - 196cm, 81kgs

Coming into the draft we were always going to be looking at possible defenders with Maxy Hudghton not having long left and not a clear replacement coming through.  It seems we have picked the best available and a future key defender.  Is tall, athletic and has a great work ethic.  Despite an injury this year to his hamstring, his form last year was magnificent dusting up previous top 10s Kruezer and McEvoy.  At 196cm and only 81kgs he will probably struggle to keep up the ruck role he did so well last year so this is purely a draft for him to become a key defender where he has already shown promise.  Can see him being able to play anywhere though personally.  The Saints welcome Jackson Trengove to the ranks.

WP already has his done with a father-son pick  . . . .
# 14 Western Bulldogs – Ayce Cordy (Geelong Falcons / 202 / 78).

Tall and Athletic but really needs to build a frame.

Onto Geelong!
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT

#15 Geelong - Jordan Lisle (196cm, 92kg)

The Cats will be looking to replace the likes of Scarlett and Harley over the next few years as well as add to their forward line which was exposed in Grand Final as being one key forward short. Lisle will suit them as he's has shown he can play CHF and in the U18 champs as a KP defender equally well. A bit of a Adam Hunter type. Good in the air, strong hands, good skills for a big man and can rebound off the backline.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: Chuck17 on November 02, 2008, 05:41:38 PM
Well Geelong just put a dent in Hawthorns drafting.  We had our our eye on Lisle as well and would have picked him if available.

# 16 Hawthorn Matthew Broadbent (189cm 81kg)

Ideally we were looking for a KPP defender with a bit of height to assist Croad.  We have selected Broadbent whose ability to play defense as well as midfield won't go astray.

Thought a couple of others would have slipped to these two picks so had to change them. Melbourne will take...

17. Steven Hill - Showed in the draft camp results that he is the top level of juniors athletically, but also has a very good defensive side. Shut down Hartlett in the champs and get plenty of the ball himself. Strong chance to go at #3 in the real thing to Fremantle so a good pickup at the start of the 2nd round.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT

18) West Coast - Lewis Johnston 192cm 82kg

One of the standout fowards in the championships. He has excellent positioning and won't get outbodied even by bigger opponents in a contest. Will start his career as a 3rd tall but will end up playing CHF for 200 games. Although he's an SA boy, he was too good to pass up here.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT

Lewis Johnston is a poor Cleve Hughes.   I'd be surprised to see him play 50 games.

Pick # 19
Tom Lynch - Recovering from a knee last year, but was back in time for the U18 champs. Was likely a mid first round pick had he not been injurred. 191cm kpp who can play both ends of the ground and has very good speed for a bigger bloke. Could have slipped a bit until later in the draft, but there aren't too many good talls left so would likely go before Melbournes next pick.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: Ball! on November 03, 2008, 06:01:52 PM
Pick #20 West Coast Micheal Walters

Although Scheonmakers would have been a nice here however, with a Ruckman and tall foward already chosen it's time to balster up the smaller blokes. Walters will compliment the likes of Mastern, Erbert, and Selwood well. He is small, but he is fast. He is likely to start his career as a goal sneak but once he builds up a bit he will be a very good midfielder
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: Chuck17 on November 03, 2008, 09:37:31 PM
Pick #21 Fremantle Mitch Robinson (188cm 77kg)

Midfielder who can play HFF and HBF as well, with a young and emerging side the need for a midfielder with versatility will blend nicely with Rich and Palmer.

# 22 Port Adelaide – Aaron Cornelius (TAS / 192cm / 84kgs)

#23 Essendon - Ryan Schoenmakers (193cm, 85kg)

After adding to the midfield stocks with Prismall and Yarran, went for a tall who will eventually replace one of either Lloyd or Lucas with both now over 30. Liked the look of Schoenmakers playing as a lead up HF/CHF for SA in the Champs and he has grown to 193cm so he's now also a truer KPP height. Schoenmakers has good foot skills especially on his preferred left, good vision and is a good mark. He also came 1st in the 30m repeat sprints and 6th in the 20m sprint at the draft camp to show he has the athletic attributes to go with his footy ability.

Pick # 24 Fremantle Neville Jetta

Having boosted their midfield with two earlier picks Fremantle choose a small forward in Neville Jetta.  Hoping for a replacement for Farmer (in football ability not stupidness) they are hoping Jetta will be the small forward to kick a bagful crumbing off Pav and Tarrant.

It's down to 4 nominees.

I'd like to know who other people would choose with what's available.

If we're going best available we'd have to go with **** ******.    I'm not actually going to name him for the betterment of a following person who may have their eyes on him for a pick or 2 after yours already.  If you have him on your list of "maybes" you should know who he is.  ;D

180cm player that has moved into the midfield, has superior kicking skills and finds the ball like crazy in and under or on the outside.

The biggest slider so far of this draft still available imo.

From Victoria, not sure exactly which way.

Will probably slide because he's only about 180cm but I'm surprised he hasnt been snapped up yet.

Ok pick was a bit rushed but I think Voss will still be trying to build a midfield so

Pick 25 Brisbane  -  Nick Suban

Hard Nut inside type with disposal skills. Voss will want four of himself in the midfield

Ok Here it is. Im ready to recieve the heat. Mitch Brown to Richmond. 195cm CHF. It may be a reach, but he's the best available of the forwards imo.

Others that were in the mix are Ash Smith, Roughead, Rockliff.

Is Mitch Brown another one who has grown over the past 6 months? He was listed at 191cm and 82kg midyear  ???. The Mitch Brown who plays for the Eagles is 195cm.

Not as far as I'm aware.

He's still 191cm and just starte dgetting hyped on draft forums because of his goal kicking is school footy and good work ethic at TAC level.

Cant see him going before the 3rd round, maybe even 4th personally.

#27 North Melbourne - Jordan Roughead - Ruckman

Rucks aren't a great need for North however will Sidebottom in the first round picking up a ruckman will allow Hale to play full foward perminantly allowing Roughead to play 2nd ruck behind McIntosh which frees up Petrie to tighten up CHF or CHB. A basket baller turned footballer, Roughead has been touted the 4th bets ruckman in a draft with a fair bit of ruck depth. He will go foward once in a while an abosolutely dominate up foward, but with David Hale been carved out as their new full foward, Roughead will compliment McIntosh and Hale after a couple of years of dominating in the seconds.

Ta Cotch. That's a significant height gain as he's gone from a tweener height to a bigger-sized key forward. Cotch do you also know if he's put on weight as well from the 82kg?

The Cotch has de-registered and gone missing.  :wallywink

Anyway to keep this rolling I'd say

#28 pick for Adelaide

Jarrad Blight (192 / 82)

A tall fast running utility would fit well for Adelaide.

Any objections to this pick?

If not, lets move on to Wayne with Collingwoods selection.  :thumbsup

I wont take tiga's pick as I'm 99% he/she will get back here eventually, unlike The Cotch.

But now it has been so long I would like to see Willie P.'s two picks for the Dogs to stop this stagnation.

tiga will just have a lesser group to pick from.

31. W.Bulldogs - Jordon Jones - Geelong Falcons, a tall defender who was one of the CHB in the Vic Country side this year. Cannot just nulify an opponent but can plpay an attacking role

32. W.Bulldogs - Rhys O'Keefe - North Adelaide. - Medium defender, with a strong left foot. Should give the doggies alot of rebound, but is also an inside player

The Jordan Jones pick is a real doozy and a surprise but a great gutsy pick I say.  Relatively tall utility, good skills and reasonably agile.

I expected to go later but not too early for him.

OKeefe is tough and should be welcome to the Dogs lineup.

I like them both WP.  :thumbsup

Post by: mightytiges on November 13, 2008, 01:03:03 AM
33. Geelong - Ash Smith (184cm, 83kg)

After taking a tall with their first pick, the Catters have decided to add some speed and long kicking which they missed in the GF. Smith provides that combo as well as being a future replacement for Wojcinski who was left out of the Granny. Smith can play HF, HB and as a outside midfielder and he would have impressed recruiters at the draft camp finishing 1st in the 20m sprint (just .01 secs off Danyle Pearce's record) and sixth in the 30m repeat sprints.
Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: Chuck17 on November 13, 2008, 09:41:13 AM
34 Hawthorn - Stephen Gaertner (198cm 88kg)

Hawthorn have selected a tall defender that could also be a ruck alternative.

His plus side is that for a tall he is reported to be rather quick.

The downside is that he has been compared to Kepler Bradley at the same age. :o

Probably too speculative a pick for the second round (albeit the last pick in the second round) and may be considered a bit of a project player but hey whoever Hawthorn recruits turns out to be a gun so it doesn't matter (just ask them if you don't believe me).

Nah thats fine, I'm happy with my one team
Chuck just took my bloody pick, I had the post typed out and ready to go for Gaertner too
So now I need to think of someone else, I thought taking him with my next pick was going to be a bit of a reach as it was. Spewin'!!

Difference between him and Bradley is Gaertner is one of the fastest kids in the draft at 198cm

back to take my pick in a bit, need to pick someone else

35 - Matthew Deboer 187cm 85kg hard running midfielder from WA. Big bodied and wins plenty of the ball and is the prototype height for a midfielder these days at 6'2". Can't see him falling this low in the real thing.
Melbourne now have an elite key forward, super quick midfielder who is good defensively, versatile kpp who can play forward or back and now a big bodied clearance midfielder.

36) West Coast - Dan Hannebery 182cm 75kg

So far we have NicNat, Walters and Johnston

A ruck,  KP foward and a small foward/mid

Time to bolster the midfield. Hannebery will play alot of WAFL next year but will slip into our best 22 in '10. Absolute steel here. Would have also liked Pearce but he might survive till the next round

Pick 38 - Port Adelaide - James Strauss -185cm, 82kg

I decided to go for the bottom age midfielder that has a great engine and is very talented in traffic and is just as confortable and able to run past and receive the ball with a good kick on him.  Will complement the plethora of outside mids at Port Adelaide with his strong ball winning ability.

#40 Carlton - Nick Heyne

We got a KPP with number 6, I have tried to cover another deficiency with #40.

Fev needs help in the forward line and Nick Heyne can slot into a forward pocket and eventually a HFF.

He's a good grab and a smart player.

0k Voss has taken mids so far so it time for a Big as a project player. Most of the ones I had in mind have gone in the last few picks so

Pick 41: Brisbane    Andrew Browne

At 202cm 106kg this kid is huge already and who knows what he could end up at. As I said its a punt and a project but it just might pay off big time.

Just going back to Mitch Brown, he is listed in the Inside Football summary at 191cm; not 195cm.

Ball! you're pick 43 for North is next.

43) North Melbourne

Recape: Steele Sidebottom, Jordan Roughead

Tom Rockliff Small Foward

North have a couple of quality crumbers in Lindsey Thomas and Cambell, however they Rockliff will play more a Ben McKinley role as a marking foward. He is a smart player with excellent hands and he will kick goals. Would be a great foil for Hale in the coming years

Pick 44  - Adelaide

David Zaharakis - 180cm, 73kg - Vic

Hard working midfielder that needs to work on skills but is very good at winning the ball week in and week out.  Will take a year or two in the SANFL but Neil Craig will encourage his worth ethic to see him become a good future player for the Crows.

#45 Collingwood - Christopher Hall

Another midfielder for us. Quick, but needs to put on some muscle.

#46 Collingwood - Ben Cousins

 :o

Out of nowhere, we take the former Brownlow Medallist. He could help us bridge the gap between us and the Hawks and Geelong. Will also be a great (on-field) mentor for our youngsters.

Pick 47 - Jayden Post - 195cm, 86kg - Vic

Tall strong defender to bolster the defense of the Saints.

Pick 48 - Luke Shuey - 185cm, 84kg - Vic

Needs to work on skills but has the pace and endurance to add to the Saints midfield what they need.

Pick 49. Geelong: Mitch Banner (178cm, 77kg)

18 year old ball magnet midfielder from the Western Jets who can run forward and kick goals. Maybe a touch on the small size and some kicks out of stoppages can be just thumps off the boot forward but he's just a natural footballer and a long kick for his size which would suit Geelong's direct sharing gamestyle under Bomber Thompson. Impressed against WA in the U18 champs when he brought his own footy.

192cm super athlete from NT, capable of playing forward or back and strong overhead mark. Has that (dreaded by Richmond fans) X-factor. Could turn out to be another Franklin type but a little shorter. Pretty handy pick in the 4th round, could be anything.

Richmond select Jack Ziebell.

Very very tough choice.

Trengove did not come in to the equation.

It was always Ziebell or McKernan for the Tigers.

Ziebell wins on the basis of best available.

i think Trengove comes into question now!

Port Adelaide.

Pick 54 - Sam Wright - 188cm, 76kg - Vic

HFF that has great handles and good skills but needs to work on his defensive game.  A good pick up at this stage but will need work.

55. Essendon - Taylor Hunt  (182cm, 79kg)

HBF/BP who has good pace, rebounds well and his defensive side of his game is a strength as well. I just liked his game playing for Vic Metro and as a late-ish selection.

Its almost a pick made for me because we have selected a midfielder and a forward but still no ruckman, and it's an area we really must draft in.  For the record if I had it from the start I would have gone for Trengove and Roughead with the 1st two picks but what's done is done and I now have project ruckman to choose from.

And the best available is . . .

Pick #58 -

Tom Hill - 199.7cm, 80kg - Vic

Bottom age player that is very much a project player that needs to build strength but is still growing and has good speed and agility for a ruckman.  Don't expect anything from him next year and unless he can pack on kilos very quickly probably not a lot in 2010.  This is a pick that had to be made and I believe Tom Hill is the best ruckman left that has the best opportunity to take over from Simmo.

Fire away.  :outtahere

Bit disappointed that there are two KP forwards left I like but I had to go this way, really.

LOL helps if I read the caption under the photo.  I just assumed that since the article was about Brown they would have put a photo of him in it.  Funnily enough the artice was about Brown coming out of Watts shadow and what did they do on an article about Brown developing, put a photo of Watts in there.

Post by: tigersalive on November 23, 2008, 09:35:48 PM
Sorry Ball! but we must keep rolling so I'm going to take Adelaide's and St Kilda's pick.

Adelaide pick 60
- Liam Jones - 194cm, 84kg - Tasmania

Bottom age draftee that Adelaide can work effectively at the KPP post.  Was injured for the champs but has shown enough to suggest he has got the tools to have what it takes and suits Adelaide's needs very well to develop a forward.

St Kilda Pick 62 - Bart McColluch - Ruck/Tall Utility - 198cm, 83kg - Tasmania

Tall and agile Ruckman/KPP that I would suggest will become a ruckman when he packs on the kilos rather than a forward where he's played some junior footy and is the match to St Kilda's needs of developing a young ruckman.  Will be agile and a great competitor around the ground where he is very quick for a man of his size.

Next up is Ball! or Chuck17 with pick 63 for Hawthorn.

Pick 64 - Zachary Clarke
A late round punt on a ruckman, he is a very good ruck height at 203cm and has decent skills and mobility for a big guy. Just may not get enough of it at this stage, really only showed good form for Oakleigh, didn't get much of a chance for Vic Metro.

#65 Carlton - Michael Gugliotta (DOB – 26/6/90, Ht – 194, Wt – 82)

A KPP prospect who could turn out to be a steal if he gets it all together.

Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT

Pick #66 - Port Adelaide - Charlie Sharples - 180cm, 77kg - NT (played for Sturt in the SANFL this year)

NT boy who played seniors for Sturt Seniors in the SANFL this year and was reportedly impressive against fellow AFL listed players and had a good U/18 champs with the Northern Territory.    Pacey midfielder that has a question on his kicking but is proficient in most other areas and has significantly improved his endurance.  A good chance pick at 66.

Title: Re: OER PHANTOM DRAFT
Post by: mightytiges on November 25, 2008, 06:51:11 PM
67. Essendon - Rhys Stanley (200cm, 84kg)

Like Infamy/Melbourne, the Bombers use a late pick on a young developing mobile ruckman. Stanley played mostly U19s for West Adelaide this year but cracked a couple of senior SANFL games towards the end of the season.

nb. If Ball! doesn't log on shortly someone else may have to choose for that pick (#59 - North).

Going on a needs basis. . . .

Richmond - Pick #70 - Nathan O'Keefe - 194cm, 84kg - Eastern Ranges

A real dark horse that only joined the TAC Cup mid-season for whatever reason but when he played late in the year at TAC level looked really at home, took strong marks and kicked a few goals and outplayed top 10 pick Michael Hurley when they were in opposition.  At pick 70 I'm very happy to take a chance on such a player that may turn out to have a massive upside/.

Ball! hasn't logged on the past week so I'll pick for North so we get this finished in time.

59. Brad Mangan ( 27/4/1991, 186cm, 87kg )

A 17 year old quick midsized forward with a long kick who could also end up playing defence given his closing speed.

71. Luke Thompson  ( 8/2/1991, 192cm, 85kg )

Another bottom ager who is a tall forward/defender. A speculative pick as he may end up a first rounder if left to the 2009 draft with another year of TAC Cup behind him.

Pick 72 - Adelaide - Tom Gillies - 192cm, 85kg - Vic

With Basset gone, Adelaide need to find some depth in their defence for the future.  This KP defenders, mostly played at Full Back is the right option at this pick. As a tall defender he will fit in well and have strong mentors in Bock and Rutten to learn from.

#73 Collingwood - PASS

We have Begley and Brown training with us.

We'll give them the extra few weeks to prove themselves and we'll pick one up in the PSD.

Pick 74 - Luke Rounds - 181cm, 70kg - Geelong Falcons, Vic

Bottom age hard working midfielder that has decent pace and distributes the ball okay.  Might be left to develop in the TAC for one more year but I think he might get snaffled late.

75 Hawthorn Jake Walsh 196cm 96kg

Big built bottom age kid.

Still developing and used in a variety of KP positions.

Port Adelaide - Pick 78 - Liam Shiels - 183cm, 78kg - Vic

Solid bottom aged midfielder.  Want to go and get in early and get some development into him as would go much higher if left at TAC level for another year.  Could be a good bargain.

79. Essendon - Adam Cockie (180cm, 84kg)

19 year old solid tough midfielder who is quick and a strong tackler. The Bombers are apparently interested in along with the Tiges. Played senior WAFL and state footy this year so worth the risk so late in the draft.

OK I doubt Wayne would of picked this guy anyway so I will thow it in to speed things up

Pick 81: Brisbane  Zach Sengstock 191cm, 85kg – Sandringham Dragons

If he plays football like his dad played Basketball we could have another real goes on our hands here.

Pick 82: Pass    I was tempted to say Danny Myer here but we can trail him and a few others and get one in the PSD.

Plenty of sliders that didnt get drafted as high as 34 and players who got drafted but still slid being Trengove, McKernan, Broadbent, Walters, Cahill, Hall Cornelius, Rhys O'Keefe,

Some big bolters as well being Hill, Strauss, Brown, Zaharakis, Davis, Shuey, Liam Jones, Post, Wright, Clarke, Banfield, Gillies, Rounds and Shiels.  And those not nominated by us that got a gig like Bennell at 35, Jack Reddan at 26 and Benjamin Bucovaz at 56.

Not to blow my own trumpet too much, but 10 of those 14 "bolters" were my picks.  ;D  ;)    Unfortunately my early pick drafting forum was pretty ordinary with Trengove, Cornelius but I'd say the "bolters" outweighed the "sliders" overall. ;)

Quote
4. Port Adelaide - Tyrone Vickery  8
22. Port Adelaide - Aaron Cornelius 57
38. Port Adelaide - James Strauss 19
42. Port Adelaide - Phil Davis 10
54. Port Adelaide - Sam Wright 27
66. Port Adelaide - Charlie Sharples  Undrafted
78. Port Adelaide - Liam Shiels 34
Very happy with that.  Surprised Sharples didn't go and Cornelius slid so far but Strauss, Davis, Wright and Shiels were all great value.

Quote
13. St Kilda - Jackson Trengove 22
47. St Kilda - Jayden Post 26
48. St Kilda - Luke Shuey 18
62. St Kilda - Bart McColluch 69
74. St Kilda - Luke Rounds 46
Pretty good.  Once again an early slider but Post, Shuey and Rounds were good gets.
Quote
58. Richmond - Tom Hill  Undrafted
70. Richmond - Nathan O'Keefe  59

Okay.  Always tough to get an idea of what ruckmen are going to be drafted and Hill simply didnt go.  Nathan O'keefe was a handy pickup.
Quote
44. Adelaide - David Zaharakis 23
60. Adelaide - Liam Jones 32
72. Adelaide - Tom Gillies 33
Adelaide would probably wish this was the real deal.  :rollin    Steals all round.

Of course this is only the draft and anything can happen from now on but I'm happy with my performance within the phantom.

No matches but I did fairly well with the Bomber picks. Only missed out on Cockie late at pick 79.

Essendon:
5. Chris Yarran               (6)
23. Ryan Schoenmakers  (16)
55. Taylor Hunt              (49)
67. Rhys Stanley            (47)
79. Adam Cockie            (-)

All 4 picks I had for Geelong were drafted but I way overvalued talls Lisle and Cahill. The other two were around the mark.

Geelong:
15. Jordan Lisle       (50)
33. Ash Smith         (36)
39. Paul Cahill         (74)
49. Mitch Banner      (42)
