Infamy is first off the rank with Melbourne's #1 pick.

the official time limit of 7 minutes has passed. Therefore Melbourne has forfeited its 1st pick in the national draft.

Sorry guys, been in meetings at work all day

Pick #1 - Jack Watts

No surprises here, he very well may not be the clear best talent in the draft, but he suits Melbourne's needs the most. They have deficiencies all over the ground, which is half the reason I chose them as it makes the picks easier.
Super quick 6'5" CHF with vice like hands and bottom aged to boot. Only knock on him is if he hits packs hard enough, he may need the Santa's Little Helper treatment when turning him into a guard dog. Some toothpicks holding the eyelids open with an onslaught of violent film into his subconscious may do the trick.

#2 West Coast - NicNat Ruckman 201cm 88kg

As tempting as Daniel Rich would be to add to our young midfield brigade of Selwood, Mastern and Erbert; Nata is too good to pass up. With Cox still having a solid 5 to 6 years left it allows him to develop at the WAFL for as long as he needs. Measured in some 2 inches shorter this time last year so fully expect him to potentially grow another inch or so. In two or three years when we have Cox as our first ruck, Nat as our second and Erbert, Selwood, mastern, etc running through the midfield we will be a tour de force again.

Are we setting a time limit for picks to keep things moving?
Say 24 hours?

I hope Chuck17 does get here because I have a clear number 4 in mind since I think number 3 is pretty much locked in as well.
But if there is a 24 hour rule it will become a tough choice.  :help

Sorry guys busy at work and was at Poker last night

#3 Fremantle Daniel Rich

Given Fremantle need some young midfielders badly (plus a rest of a football side except a CHF) our choice was pretty much clear.

#4 Port Adelaide - Tyrone Vickery - 200cm, 86kgs

With a clean out of young ruckman including the retirement of Hugh Minson and delisting of Fabian Deluca this year we really need a ruckman and we also believe that Tyrone is the best player available at pick 4.  In very mobile and has shown he can compete in the forward line when resting from ruck duties.

#5 Essendon - Chris Yarran (180cm, 84kg)

Solid midsized forward who at this stage can play in spurts in the midfield. Quick and elusive with good skills which suits Matty Knights' gameplan, Yarran played senior footy in the WAFL with Swan Districts kicking 39 goals from 13 games. He also has a habit of kicking 3s and 4s so often contributes even when quiet possession wise. He's been linked to Essendon given Ash Prescott now Bombers assistant coach use to coach Yarran at Clontarf and considers Yarran and Bomber Paddy Ryder the best and most talented two kids to come out of the indigenous academy. If he can get his endurance up to play longer in the midfield, Prescott and the Bombers see Yarran as a future Shaun Burgoyne.
