Patto, Cleve, JON, Petts all gone!
« on: October 09, 2009, 04:31:27 AM »
[Simmonds re-signing] means 23-year-old ruckman Adam Pattison will be moved on, while former No.12 pick Jay Schulz has been swapped for Port Adelaide 20-year-old Mitch Farmer.

Pattison was a No.16 selection in the infamous 2004 national draft, along with Brett Deledio (pick No.1), Richard Tambling (4), Danny Meyer (12) and Dean Polo (20).

Meyer is gone, Polo has been an underperformer and Tambling has had to deal with constant comparisons after Richmond overlooked Hawthorn's Lance Franklin.

In recent weeks the club has delisted former No.8 selection Kayne Pettifer, No.9 selection Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls, No.24 selection Cleve Hughes and No.25 selection Mark Coughlan.

The club has five quality picks in this year's national draft, with Hardwick intent on overhauling the list.

They rated him highly

With a number of teams desperate for ruck options, I'm surprised there would be no interest for Patto, not even a 3rd or 4th rounder or a pick upgrade.

Maybe they have seen him play

According to Greg Denham he is going to be delisted because there is no interest from other clubs. Source Greg Denham on SEN.

Too short to be a modern ruckman when he's competing against 200cm+ brickhouses or athletic freaks who can leap tall buidlings in a single bound. Patto is probably 10-15 years too late for the times.

Patto is blaming injury for being cut....

Pattison, who was a second-round draft pick for Richmond, needed hip and ankle surgery at the end of the season having laboured during the year trying to play with injury.

"I just know in myself that that wasn't me last year," Pattison said. "Now I am as fit and strong as I ever have been and at 23 I think my best footy is ahead of me.

"It's definitely encouraging that St Kilda have had some good history with guys from other clubs and guys who have had some problems injury wise, so it makes me feel good coming here."

Patto had an ability injury.
Still I would have kept him ahead of Simmonds.
