Fair enough all I'm saying is, that if after 3 years under hardwick we are still poo, will the club lump it all on him like his predecesors? or will the players have to put their hands up and take the heat after bitching all preseason about how bad it was under wallace. For mine, they've dug a hole, and they better be performing in a couple of years....

I think you are correct in regards to the club rather than the players. Our current core group are all 22 or under so it's hard to lay any real responsibility upon their shoulders but...players who had been around for 10+ year, seeing out multiple coaches, well yes I agree with you, they should be held accountable. Now that we have gotten rid of most of these older players and (other than Cousins) those few that are older than 22 are all on shaky ground, it's now the clubs and coach's responsibility of any failure or success we have. If we have not invested in enough development, facilities, educators and fitness staff, then that's not the coaches or players fault, it's the clubs.

So ultimately, if we do not begin to improve and succeed after 3 years it is probably more the clubs fault than anyone else's.

They probably will tony.
What hardwick has ever said he will is put in place a blueprint to win a premiership.

The club has said that it's a fresh start with a young side, come along the ride it should be fun.

So Hardwick should be judged by whether he has achieved what he said he would or not. If he has, thumbs up if not, thumbs down.

Richo last night on Ch 7 joined in the subtle backhanders at the previous coaching staff when he said "he's heard the players have enjoyed the structures and discipline brought in by Hardwick. Structure and discipline was something we lacked over the past 3-to-4 years."

I would add basic skills and footy brains within the playing group was lacking as well Richo.

Subtle ??  ;D

He actually mentioned the structures and disciplines twice.

"..he's implemented a lot of structures and disclipines that our team probably hasn't had in the last 4 or 5 years"

"...if they get the right structures and disciplines, like the good sides like Geelong and St Kilda have....

Little snippets keep cropping up all over the place like this that indicate a difference from the last 5 years to this year similar to the difference between a man lost at sea in a rudderless ship and a yacht headed by a skipper who knows where he wants to go and how to get there.

Patrick Smith in today's Australian had a go at Jack Riewoldt for his "school" comments regarding our new gameplan.....

There was little good news to take from the match for Essendon other than it was not a premiership game. The same applied to Richmond which was disembowelled by Hawthorn. Jack Riewoldt, the Tigers' marking forward, said through the week that under new coach Damien Hardwick the side's style and understanding of football had, at last, graduated from primary school.

It was an unnecessary swipe at former coach Terry Wallace. And it looked downright silly when the Tigers had kicked four goals by three-quarter time to Hawthorn's 15. Rebuilding Richmond will be long, even tedious. Riewoldt's observation made him look more dunce than scholar.

Nonetheless, while the season proper has not started supporters now have some evidence, no matter how flimsy, to raise their hopes or drop their bundles. Talk it up or talk it down. That's why Naitanui will win the Brownlow and the Tigers the wooden spoon. Nonsense is football's lifeblood.
