Skipper job about opportunity for Trent Cotchin * Jon Ralph

* April 22, 2010RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick says Trent Cotchin is not over the line as the club's next skipper, despite being acting captain against Melbourne on Sunday.
Eyebrows were raised when 20-year-old Cotchin was given the role ahead of Brett Deledio.
But Hardwick said yesterday supporters should not read too much into it.
He said the leadership group of skipper Chris Newman, Deledio, Cotchin, Daniel Jackson, Nathan Foley and Troy Simmonds had decided Cotchin deserved the opportunity.
"Given the fact Brett Deledio had done the job before (Round 22 last year), they wanted to give Trent Cotchin a chance," Hardwick said. "For Trent's development as a player, it was an outstanding opportunity, too good to be passed up.
"There's so much more to captaincy these days than just tossing the coin. The captain takes responsibility on-field for the whole team.
"And, from that point of view, I thought Trent was terrific last Sunday."
The Tigers take on Fremantle in Perth on Sunday, and Newman is a strong chance to return from his hamstring strain.
Nathan Foley will be considered after playing a half, then a full game, at VFL level.
Ben Cousins should return from a club-imposed suspension, but the club will make him wait before confirming his return.
