Richmond's Nathan Foley says Jordan McMahon hasn't given up hope

RICHMOND backman Jordan McMahon remains determined to reignite his AFL career, according to Tigers’ vice-captain Nathan Foley.

The 26-year-old defender, a veteran of 148 matches, has languished in the VFL so far this season, having been continually overlooked at selection in favour of younger teammates.

His Richmond contract is unlikely to be extended past this season but Foley said McMahon was working hard to impress the coaching staff.

‘’Jordan has been around the AFL a long time, so he knows how it works,’’ Foley said

‘’He’s put his head down and is working hard -- be it on the training track or in the gym.

‘’It’s obviously a difficult period for him, but he’s dealt with it very well.’’

The winless Tigers face a daunting task against Geelong on the rebound at Skilled Stadium on Sunday.

Captain Chris Newman is in doubt for the clash after missing training this morning with a head cold.

Club officials insisted the skipper would play, while Luke McGuane (hamstring), Mitch Morton and Daniel Jackson (buttock) are also in line for a recall.

Foley, in his second game back from serious ankle surgery, said Sunday’s clash was a big test for his young side.

"Geelong are always dangerous," he said.

"They've been in incredible form in the past few years and are going to be the same challenge."

Hopefully at another club, I would take pick 126 or later for him

Does Macmahon understand why he is so poor?  How can he improve unless he changes everything he does?

I'm assuming the Hun has oopsed again.  Think it might have been Thursty with the hammy rather than Luke?

What is it with the RFC and appointing uninspiring Captains.....is it because there are none who INspire?

Yeah it is a really great idea rocking up to training with a cold to impress 40 other players and also pass it on to them so that they should all have it by the weekend!

Funny thing about that term, is it's not that common.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?

Exactly.

A severe cold can also knock an athlete around a bit as well. It's probably a non-issue anyway with 3 days until we play. Well it better be as surely another kid would be brought in rather than Jordie  :help.

McMahon's game against Box Hill speaks volumes about his attitude. If he was serious he would have completely dominated that game
