The Richmond Football Club today announced the signing of three significant partnerships for the 2005 season.

Richmond’s CEO, Steven Wright, confirmed the re-signing of co-major partner, Motorola, key coaches’ sponsor, Laguna Whitsundays, and the signing of a new partner in Silver Top Taxi Service. They all join long-time major Tiger partner, the Transport Accident Commission, whose re-signing was announced last week.

“Given the difficult year that Richmond’s gone through, it’s great news for the Club that we’ve been able to re-sign our key partners and, in fact, also sign some new partners at this early stage for 2005. “These partnerships, alone, will contribute more than $2 million to the Club’s finances next year, and account for over 85% of our total sponsorship budget,” Wright said.

“We’re delighted to have our two co-major partners, in the TAC and Motorola, continuing their strong relationship with the Club.

“The association between the TAC and the Richmond Football Club dates back to 1989, making it the second-oldest, current major partnership in the competition.

“Motorola moves into its second year as Richmond’s co-major partner, and third year of involvement, overall, with the Club.

“The company, which has become a key player in the Australian mobile phone market over the past few years, has been buoyed by the amount of coverage that it’s received through the partnership with the Tigers, and is anticipating even greater exposure in 2005.

“We’ve also got Laguna Whitsundays back on board, which is good news. They will continue as our coaches’ sponsor next season and I know Terry’s looking forward to supporting David Marriner and his team in the coming year.

“Laguna Whitsundays is one of Australia’s premier golfing holiday destinations and our players and coaches are looking forward to holding a training camp there next June.

“And, it’s really pleasing to welcome Silver Top Taxi Service as a new partner of the Tigers for the Wizard Cup competition.

“The deal with Silver Top involves the team wearing their silver tops, with the Tiger’s head branding on the front, during the Wizard Cup. There will also be a special phone number Richmond supporters can use to dial a Silver Top taxi.

“Silver Top Taxis are a great part of the City of Melbourne’s history. They’re a good fit with the Richmond brand and the road-safety message that we help drive through our relationship with the TAC.”

Wright also revealed that Richmond’s membership figures were more than 10% up on the corresponding time last year, despite the campaign starting three weeks later.

have been told to expect another couple more significant announcements regarding new sponsors for next season... ;)

stevie wright is the man....

perhaps even a tie in with the grand prix...

it pays to have people on board who know how to pull a dollar into the club...
