Richmond are the new "Fitzroy" after all.
« on: July 12, 2010, 03:22:15 AM »
Those journo parasites were half right....We are the new Fitzroy, however not the Lions circa 1996.

We are Fitzroy circa 1984......In that particular year Fitzroy were stone motherless last after round 9 with a record of 1 win and 8 losses. They turned it around to be 11/11 after round 22 and snuck into the five on percentage.

Sure I might be suffering from delusions of grandeur...We cant possibly win 6 of the next 7.(can we ?)

Just really enjoying the ride atm.

Yep the Roys replaced us in the final 5 after we only won 4 games in the second half of 1984  :P.

As for us ...

R16. North - we'll be favourites especially after the Roos stupidly rushed back Petrie and it backfired.

R17. C'wood - tough although if we win this week the 'G will be packed and you can guarantee there'll be an all-in started by Kingy lol.

R18.  Adelaide - tough even at the 'G. They like us have got a run on and actually have a chance of sneaking into the finals still.

R19. Melbourne - winnable this time around.

R20. Carlton - on current form they are in trouble of slipping out of the top 8.

R21. St Kilda - I can only see us winning if they are safe in a top 2 spot and switch off to avoid injury as they did against North last year in the same round.

R22. Port - on current form the easiest of game of the lot. Another we'll be clear favourites

So a maximum of 4-5 wins and a minimum of 2.

I of course am in the minority and would still like us to bring more inexperienced youngsters in given we have no chance of playing finals and a few outs through injury/suspension and take the latter 2 wins and still finish in the bottom 3. Add another top 8 young gun along with a decent 2nd/3rd round pick to the talented young core we have and make a real charge that will lead to consecutive finals and eventually a flag starting from next year onwards (I still think 2012/13 is a more realistic target to play finals). Finishing 10th with 10 wins and a late teen first pick is putting 2010 and feelgood wins ahead of our future.
