I wouldn't want Astbury putting on 10kg in one preseason, he'd lose too much agility.
Over 2-3 preseasons would be fine
Agree Infamy. You'd presume that's the idea from our S&C fitness guys. Doing it gradually would prevent injury as well. Possibly add gradually 4-4-2 kgs over three preseasons so he's body is full developed when he starts peaking at 22 y.o.

I don't think he could put 10 kg on it one preseason regardless given all the endurance running the squad is expected to do along with the weights. Told me he was getting in the protein powder as well just to help with the size but he is what you would expect an 18yr to be (expect for a freck like Dusty  :o), slight and raw.

Great summary Stripes...

As for Astbury...i was the one who asked him the question of his weight cos to me he looks substantially bigger than when i first saw him at a club 80 function last year...

6 kg during one preseason/season is to my mind huge given the volume of running these guys do...these guys burn calories like there is no tomorrow...then on top of the burn they put on 6kg...amazing...

another 8 to 10 kg on Astubury over the next few seasons would round him out nicely...hopefully not lose his mobility.

Muscle is mainly made from protein.

The energy you burn is from carbs or fats.

The body will only convert protein to sugar when it has run out of sugar completely, so the amount of calories you burn should not affect muscle growth

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."
