Along with other Tigers Kelvin Moore, Andrew Browne, Daniel Connors and recruit Reece Conca - Jackson saw red at Punt Rd with Riewoldt's refusal to admit to his roots - his follicle roots.
The five players are all passionate and proud redheads and claim Riewoldt also is one of them.
But big Jack is having nothing of it, distancing himself from any talk that he has has any tinge of ginger about his locks.
Jackson said he and his four teammates were proud to be in the "ranga" club, along with PM Julia Gillard.
"We are proud of it, absolutely," Jackson said.
"We have been the butt of some jokes over the years but we can turn it back on to some other people now."
Jackson said the big giveaway for Riewoldt was his fair skin.
"It burns easily," he said. "It's quite pasty too. He burns more than all of us and he has red freckles."
Jackson said being a redhead made players tougher because they often received unfriendly advice from opponents. I should have tried that as a defence at the tribunal," quipped Jackson, who missed three games last season after an incident involving former Hawks hard man Campbell Brown, now with Gold Coast.
There were even suggestions that Riewoldt might have done a Dermott Brereton and used a rinse.
Tigers assistant coach, former Brisbane Lion Justin Leppitsch, is also a redhead.
And Richmond has gone at least one better than the Lions, who are claiming a ranga revolution.
It starts with coach Michael Voss and the latest addition is Tasmanian recruit Josh Green, who cannot complain of a lack of fellow blood nuts. Vice-captain Daniel Merrett, dashing forward Todd Banfield, hard-as-nails midfielder Ryan Harwood and Voss have welcomed Green to the Fanta fold.
"I didn't want to feel lonely, so any time a redhead came up, we snapped them up," Voss said with a grin.
"There are certainly some qualities that you like with the redheads.
"They are traditionally a bit fiery... and competitive."
