Cuz - The book

Got this for chrissie and have just finished it in a couple of days.
Pretty raw and mostly honest book from Ben.
A good read so far as footy books go.

Have to say though my opinion of him isn't all that great after reading it.
Comes across as a pretty high maintenance and often selfish individual who just happened to be outstanding at playing football(mostly pre 2006 until his drug addiction took hold).
His lifestyle has caused an enormous amount of grief to those closest to him and is very lucky to have such a good family and it seems girlfriends until they have moved on.

Lucky the Tiges gave him another go and seems genuinely grateful for it.

Hopefully whatever he does post football he can stay off the gear and get his life together but after reading this account I wouldn't be confident of it.

yeah, I too got the book, have quite enjoyed it, pretty well what i expected, by his own admission he has acted selfishly and there are signs of genuine remorse for those that have been hurt along the way, fair queue too

The RFC chapter is fairly brief, a few standouts for mine...he's all over Newy as a leader, couldn't speak highly enough of him. As he is with reepct to Wayne Campbell in fact he is a recurring theme in his time at RFC in supporting Cuz to overcome ea hurdle through his time...and the last are comments surrounding Connors and JR8...which in summ if Cuzz achieved nothing else in his time at punt Rd, he can take BIT of credit for the turnaround of this pair. There it is his time at punt rd, pretty well summed up in 3 lines...oh and he spoke highly of how the fans embraced him, last game et al

finished it now enjoyed the read. Ben surely has experienced a large slice of life, what stood out most to me was -1 the initial lack of support from the WCE  they where more concerned about the footy clubs image rather than the humanity they should of been offering the player and -2 the depth of love compassion and support from his family esp his dad I would recomend it to anyone with a passing interest in football  or who has a friend entering the drug culture

I certainly found it a stretch Benny looking to at least partly blame prescribed meds for his dabbling in illegal ones.
