Miller is a man of many hats

Greg Miller has added to his considerable duties at Richmond by taking charge of the club's recruiting department.

Miller, who famously pinched Wayne Carey and John Longmire from Sydney's clutches in the late 1980s, has taken over from former recruiting chief Greg Beck.

Already Richmond's director of football and the newest member of the club's board, Miller said yesterday he had not had any trouble combining the three roles, although his duties have kept him from all but two of the Tigers' first seven games. He is being helped by former Kangaroo scout Francis Jackson, who has joined the club on a part-time basis.

"Everyone here has other roles to play and the whole staff's taken on added responsibility because of our poor financial result last year and started to share the load a bit better and a bit smarter," Miller said.

Funny now we are winning all the hoola over Miller joining the board has died down. Helps that Wallace has come in as the new face of Richmond so Miller can just keep a low profile and get on with doing his job.

With us looking like we may finish alot higher up the ladder than expected it's going to be an important trade and draft period for us at the end of the year. We need to be smart and do our homework on the U18 kids coming through.

Dumb question: Might have the wrong bloke but is this the same Francis Jackson that was part of the worst trade in history when we chased after and gave the world for John Pitura in the 70's?

It just goes to show how good Wallace is, he can handle any of the media pressure that is placed apon him and Miller isnt required to be out in the spot light like previous years.

While he is good at dealing with the media, he can now be used to the club's benefit in his talent of recruiting.

Lets hope he can continue the levels of talent at Punt Road
