defensive pressure in the front half and midfielders only running one way continues to be a major problem. This puts incredible pressure on a defence that is already brittle and lacking in experience (and class). Our midfielders really need to get on their bike and run hard defensively - our forwards generally have been doing a good job with their pressing  - would count yesterday as an exception not the norm(perhaps we missed White more than some would have thought?)

I love our ball movement and forward running - we look very quick and dangerous but geez we need to become more desperate defensively - and FIX THOSE stuffing STARTS!!!

What a joke, that runner is the one who should be fined. Fancy that, a waterboy getting involved in a blue.
My question is this: who needs a drink while they are wrestling their opponent?

This loss provided a good reality check. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. We have improved but there are alot of areas that we need to improve in It will take time eg the development of Grimes. To compete against good sides we need above all a good ruckman. Our defence is brittle. There are definite question marks over Rance and this year will determine if he can make it or not

It was a trainer not the runner and Jake has copped the correct whack for what he did; under the rules he faces a penalty

Nahas was fined for making contact with an umpire

It wasn't that bad at all.
We matched the dogs for all important stats...except goals kicked.
Dimma admitted they were out coached in the first. The dogs continually went straight through the center, something they have not done all year, which caught us off guard continually opened us up. The coaching staff were too slow to react to the change in style, admitted by dimma as well.

So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

I wasn't talking about the entire game al, just the first qtr.

The start was woeful and it cost us big time

Good sides can't afford to give starts like that, let alone young developing ones

I too was talking about the first quarter WP. It only seemed bad because the of the ease at which footscray scored when they went straight through the middle, something we were not expecting. Besides that we matched them for critical stats.

Once we rectified that we also matched them on the scoreboard for the rest of the game

The Bulldogs were very confident that they had our measure which is why they played the "corridor" that Hardwick mentioned we didn't expect.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Fair enough al

To be honest I thought the game was gone after the first 20 minutes

Was glad we fought it out but at no stage (even when we got within 12 pts in the 3rd) did I think we were a chance of stealing the game, just leaked too many goals and didn't seem to have the answers to stop them scoring
