DOING it tough on the track under new coach Terry Wallace. Wallace put the Tigers through a gruelling pre-season session at Victoria Park yesterday that lasted more than three hours. But the players didn't take it easy on one another during physical match practice. Top draft picks Brett Deledio and Danny Meyer were among those to impress. Richmond will have an intra-club hitout at its community camp in Mildura on February 3.

THE Tigers continued to slog it out in extreme heat at Punt Rd yesterday, with Kane Johnson, Mark Coughlan and Mark Chaffey taking part in all drills. Top draft picks Brett Deledio, Richard Tambling and Danny Meyer were among those to impress, while Nathan Brown still looks a notch above his teammates in terms of skills. Young tall Jay Schulz has been told he will be the Tigers' first choice at centre half-back this season, and has matched up on Matthew Richardson in competitive drills. Football director Greg Miller said the new captain would not be named until after the Wizard Cup. First intra-club: Thursday at Mildura.

THE Tigers expect Trent Knobel and Andrew Krakouer to be available for their Wizard Cup opener against Collingwood at Telstra Dome on Friday night. Krakouer suffered a minor kick to his calf during Wednesday's intra-club match, while Knobel missed the hitout with a quadricep injury. Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong said both should be OK. Armstrong said midfielder Mark Coughlan, returning from osteitis pubis, pulled up well after playing a quarter. Fans can have photos taken with players at training tomorrow, which starts at 10am, , with funds going towards the tsunami relief effort.

Good news on Cogs. Guess that means he'll play a half for Coburg this Friday in their practice match at the Lexus centre against Willy.
