Foxsports' midseason report: Richmond gets rated a C
« on: June 17, 2011, 09:15:22 PM »
RICHMOND

Currently: 11th

What's gone right: The Tigers set out at the start of the year to find multiple goal kickers to alleviate the reliance on Jack Reiwoldt. So far they have reinvented Jake King, Tyrone Vickery has taken small steps and the midfield is starting to hit the scoreboard. Kicking skills were also a weakness in 2010 but the injection of Bachar Houli, Shaun Grigg, Jake Batchelor and Reece Conca is addressing this.

What's gone wrong: The No.1 ruckman role is there for the taking. Angus Graham got first shot and has subsequently been relegated to the reserves. Next in line Andrew Browne gives it his all but is limited and Tom Derickx, the mystery man, is yet to deal his hand. Tom Bellchambers must be on the Tigers radar for 2012. He would be a walk-up start in this side.

Star performer: Consistency is what the Tigers crave, so picking a star performer is difficult. The effort of first-year player Conca with a limited pre-season is probably the most impressive. The Tigers are finally getting some value from the draft table. Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin, Jack Reiwoldt and Brett Deliedio have all had patches of good form.

Needs a lift: Shane Edwards is obviously a favourite of the coach but it is now time for him to repay the faith and deliver.

The future: Finals are still on the radar for the boys from Punt Road but consistent effort this season and September ambitions in 2012 would be acceptable.

Key clash: Round 22 v Melbourne. If the Tigers are any chance to snatch eighth spot, they will probably need to win their two remaining games against the Demons.

Grading: C
