Back in the day when streakers ran onto the pitch during grand finals, games against interstate teams were treated as vacations and free kicks were only paid if you lost a limb, three Richmond AFL legends won the admiration and contempt of many for their uncompromising play and awe inspiring talents.
Yesterday rugged Aussie rules warriors Michael 'Disco' Roach, Jim 'Ghost' Jess and Dale 'Flea' Weightman sat down with presenter, Richard Dinnen to talk about their own careers and drum up some excitement for the upcoming Tigers 'home' game against the Gold Coast Suns in Cairns.
The trio, who have been running clinics and training sessions during their visit are hoping for a great contest despite the team's positions on the ladder.
"Gold Coast have played some good footy but then they've had some beltings I s'pose but we're hoping that the Tigers will play well," Michael said.
Jim also shed some light on the famous 1982 Grand Final against Carlton when streaker Helen D'Amico ran past him and Blues defender Bruce Doull wearing only a scarf.
"I met Helen D'Amico in Darwin two years ago and I asked her why she ran out to 'Doully' and myself because we're old, scruffy lookin' blokes and she said, 'You reminded me of my father'," Jim said.
