Just my opinion,

Richmond General-

Thank god we kick strait. Today we beat the side who will claim the wooden spoon this year.

We were very poor in the midfield, though this was mostly due to our ruckmen playing against the best in the comp. Spida was awsome today. The Hawks for mine were harder at the ball in the centre which was a worry. Our forward line was good today which was pleasing as the Dawks have a very good backline.

Specific players-

Good- 
Richo, how hard does he try?
Bowden, though he had no opponent in the first quarter.
Brown, best game in a long time.
Chris Newman, Did a great job
Campbell, if only he was young again.
Pettifer, great last quarter son

Poor-   
Gaspar, well below par.
Tiv, didn't realise he was playing till he started to make skill/judgement errors.
Graham !????!! what was his role?
Chaffey, not a midfielders bottom.

Also Cogs & Lids made some poor skill errors.

Overall-

Thank god we won!
However tiger fans Don't get your hopes up too much for next week, or the year ahead, RFC has a long way to go.
Our young players did some good things.
Cogs toughed the game out & kicked a great goal! 
We looked like we wanted to win

Pretty fair assessment HK. Agree with your list of good and poor players.

I thought we were terrible in the midfield today, as we were last week, and I don't rate Hawthorn's midfield at all but they thrashed us.

We really need to find some one who can step up in the middle and help out the likes of Johnson and Coughlan (when he returns to full fitness).

Chaffey isn't a tagger, Hyde and Tuck struggle to get enough of the ball for permanent midfield roles and Jackson and Deledio aren't up to midfield roles as yet. Brown and Bowden are the two best recievers in the side and do their best work outside the centre.

By the looks of things we will be fighting for the spoon with Collingwood and Hawthorn this year and probably next year as well.

Most accurate goalkicking team in the comp to be precise . Really happy about this too as one of my gripes about us for a long time was we only had around a 50% conversion rate on goal. Now it's up to 78% and every player is in the black even Richo  . Goalkicking is a skill so it's no different to a awry pass in general play. Just shows the Hawks were less skillful than us in this area on the day. Got another average goalkicking team this week in the doggies.

We probably still rely on too few to kick our goals with Richo, Browny and Pettifer kicking most of our goals in both games so far however we were better on the weekend with 11 different goalkickers. We also when we were getting on top in the last 10 mins went for Richo too much. Allowed Barker and Everitt to drop in front of Richo. We have to get smarter and look for other options this week as the doggies so far under Eade have dropped Murphy and Gilbee in front on the opposition's forwards as part of their "flood".

On our midfield, believe it or not we broke even with the Cats last week in clearances  ???. Would like to know the % of effective ones as we must have been watching a different match! Given we're still learning the way Wallace wants us to play and we have two new ruckman and three newish midfielders in Tuck, Hyde and Chaffey lets hope with more games we improve. Agree about Chaffey HT and John.

Really rapt to see Chris Newman in form too HT. He was static last year but the class he has is back on show  .

Agree HT. As Harry said in another thread we'll cop a few hiding this year (mostly from the tops sides) and more likely towards the end of the year as the cubs tire. Nevertheless let's enjoy the wins as they come. Plenty of mediocre teams in the AFL to score a few more wins against this year  .
