Former Richmond player Nick Daffy in court over debt dispute Stephen Drill
From: Herald Sun
June 14, 2012 FORMER Richmond forward Nick Daffy is being sued for bankruptcy over a $25,000 debt.
The ex-Tigers best-and-fairest winner will face the Federal Magistrates Court on July 26 after a Geelong building company took legal action to recover the money.
MB Pre-Fab Framing employee Greg Purcell said yesterday the debt was over two frames for houses Daffy was developing.
It is Daffy's latest financial woe after the star said he lost $3 million in property deals involving disgraced accountant Philip Whiteman.
Daffy said he was aware of the debt for the frames but had disputed the amount.
"We only got one frame but they charged us for two," he said.
"There were other people involved but I've been left holding the can. We'll just pay it if we have to."
The 39-year-old has his luxury five-bedroom, two-storey family home in the Geelong suburb of Manifold Heights on the market for $929,000.
