The simple fact his we fail in most basic footy smarts and until we do that we wont win much games. This has killed the club for the last 20 years and beyond.Turnovers and stupid decsions and skill errors.

Our football department should have a good hard look at themselve to rewarding games to guys that dont deserve it.McGuane,Moore,A.Maric,Dea.Play the kids.Allkilled us tonight with there skills and stupif frees.

I'm just wondering if we have a fitness issue it seems to me we struggle to run out games and the last part of quarters bigtime. So many teams get goals in the last few minutes against us.

We just don't have the depth yet and those who are pulled in lack composure under pressure.

Cotchin and Martin in the first quarter were absolutely fantastic. Lids was extremely good too. Once these guys were all heavily tagged in once again showed why we are in the position we are currently in - NO DEPTH! There was not one player who could stand up and take their place. Tuck is a ball winning machine but he had no one to finish his good work. Conca and Ellis are still raw babies (Ellis cost us 3 goals from errors last night) and Grigg is a wingman/finisher that needs the others to feed him the ball (this is not a slight on him, it's his role).

We either need Foley back, Conca to step up further, Helbig to recover and start playing games and plain and simple - more genuine midfield depth.

The other obvious deficiencies that were exposed again last night is 1) our one dimensional forwardline - stop Jack and we have no other tall marking option. McGuane is rubbish both as a foward and ruck. In fact he he useless as a backman too. I hope we are just trying to get games into him for trade purposes  :pray

The other area was our defence. Post is like a scared rabbit. He won't mark because he is fearful of the ball spilling so he double fists it. Grimes was similar in his first few games I remember but Post has had these mental issues every since he started. Moore is done. He is too slow both following the lead and turning. He allowed two goals through from his lack of speed/movement last night.

For the rest of the season I want to see Arnot and Helbig played (if uninjured). I want to see Griffiths have stints up forward and Astbury played back. I want Batch back in Moore's place. I was Houli rested until after the Ramadan - he looks tired (wish he would put his head over the ball - never goes in which is a shame b/c he is a good user of the ball - another wingman imo).

The sad fact is we have nothing else coming through. Our depth is terrible and it has cost us when it matters most.  :banghead

Agree with Stripes. Need another inside mid. The fact we can't beat a weakened Carlton side is damning of depth

Agree with most of this post but it only tells the tale from one side.  Why did we let Murphy run free?  Why did he have so much space and time to deliver the football.  They were able to shut down our three quality ball users and we paid no respect to Murphy by playing Conca on him.  If Murphy was locked down, we would have won that game easily.  If we did something to free up lids and Cotchin.  We would have won the game.  It all comes back to coaching.

Following from unplugged train of thought - Tigers appear to be short a couple of good lock down players.

Gary Ablett, Andrew Swallow and Mark Murphy have racked up more possessions than our whole fwd line in the past 3 games!

Appears that Hardwick has the mentallity of "we can match them" in a war of possessions - but when the plan fails 3 weeks in a row its time to make some changes.

I hope to god that Simon Black gets a minder next game! Hate to see he rack up 30 odd possessions and we lose the game by less than 6 points!
