Chris Knights put onto long-term injury list
« on: May 13, 2013, 01:42:12 PM »
Richmond General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson told SEN that Knights will be put onto the long-term injury list. Most likely Sam Lonergan will be promoted off the rookie list to replace him.

Well that's just Gravy!!  :banghead :banghead

Doubt Lonergan would be a walk up start. Maybe the door has opened for Griff to return?

Think Lonergan will get the gig, might not promote him just yet though.

At the beginning of the year I thought we had an embarrassment of riches with the spread of midfield depth we had but now that depth is coming in to play. I believed that players such as Arnot would have little chance of getting a game and yet here he is firmly in contention for his first game. With Knights, Tuck and Conca out for extended periods we were very lucky Foley returned when he did. I hope they don't rush Cotch back in either. White must be counting his lucky stars the way players are moving aside for him.

Disappointing for Knights though. He was starting to really prove his worth.

Totally agree.
If you put out the message that you will only get rewarded with performances, then this MUST happen.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Has anyone followed Lonergan when he was playing for the bombers? Do you rate him at AFL level?

Another example of why we were chasing the dom tyson type of midfielder to bolster our young stocks with quality or at least prospective quality types.

If this is the case then I would strongly agree, only need to send the wrong message once to lose respect for the decision making.

I have my doubts they will replace a midfielder/forward with a big backmen.

Do they have to nominate a replacement within a time frame?

Has he been playing midfield or down back?

Agree think we would promote like for like

And no there isn't a set time to promote a rookie, don't have to if we don't want to.

Also, 2nd half of the season all clubs have the option of promoting a rookie for the remainder of the season

If there is no time frame then i think they will wait until they need/want to promote someone. there is no point, in this case, of promoting someone unless you have the intention of playing them in the seniors.

It is different to the pre season and mid year prom0tions where you have to nominate someone before a certain date. In that case you are not necessarily promoting someone with the intention of playing them immediately.
