One of Our Major Problems
« on: May 26, 2013, 08:56:56 PM »
Closing out games.

Cant hold onto a lead for poo. Cant come back from 5 goals + down.

I know, I know. This is all very obvious to everyone here already, but I'm not finished.

I was watching the North and Adelaide game today. North reminded me so much of us, got a head of steam after getting a few goals and blew the lead out to around 6 goals, cheering after every goal acting as if we had won the game already. Then the opponent just chips away at us and the doubts start to crawl into players minds...

To North's credit, they didn't crumble anywhere near as bad as we do, they fought back a few goals and held a decent lead, a match winning lead into the 4th Quarter.
I hope the Richmond boys watched this game to see how it is done, by Adelaide of course, not North. They just never gave up and kept chipping away and when the pressure was on in the last Quarter the ROSE to the occasion, they didn't crawl back into their shells. Amazing stuff by Adelaide, it's hard for me to say, but we could learn a lot from them.

They were 5 goals up with 10 mins left NickSimo. Lost.
Last year similar time, similar margin vs Port and lost.
We lose it with 2 mins to go.
They crumble from the 15 minute mark.
Couldn't happen to a more worthy and characterless footy club.
