Coburg coach, Tim Clarke's summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at VFL level:
Todd Elton
Played on Geelong’s key talls for most of the day, limiting their impact up forward. His competitiveness on the lead continues to be a strength. Is working hard on both his ball use and decision making, which he will need to improve to make it in defence.
Tom Derickx
Played as the main ruck all day, and competed well against Trent West and Nathan Vardy, two senior ruckmen. Took three or four really strong contested marks, which was a highlight. Continues to grow with confidence.
Sam Lonergan
An outstanding inside midfield game. He made 10 tackles and had 25 touches. Led the way for our younger players. Another player who is pushing hard for senior selection at the moment.
Liam McBean
Was dangerous all day, although he didn’t have the same impact he had in previous weeks. Needed to make more of the contests he got to. He still finished with two goals and continues to improve.
Luke McGuane
Provided us with a great target up forward. Just couldn’t finish off his good work, getting his hands to a lot of balls but not marking them. Keeps working hard to put himself in a good spot to play senior footy in the next couple of weeks.
Kamdyn McIntosh
Played above his weight, due to late changes to the side. Battled hard all day, but needed to get used more offensively to hurt the opposition the other way.
Matt McDonough
Played his best game for the year so far, as a midfielder and forward. Picked up over 25 disposals and contributed to the scoreboard with three or four score involvements.
Robin Nahas
Provided a spark early, through the midfield and high forward areas. Defensive intent and pressure were highlights of his game. He was one of our better players on the day.
Brett O'Hanlon
Moved to the forward line this week, and played a terrific role for us. It was his best game for the year by a long way. Took five or six marks and had three or four shots at goal, kicking two.
Ricky Petterd
Played a really strong game in defence. He was excellent in generating offensive ball movement. Had more than 30 touches. He’ll be pushing hard for senior selection this week.
Shane Tuck
It was great to have Tucky back in the side. Picked up over 30 possessions and won 8-10 clearances. He should be ready for an AFL return in the next few weeks.
Steve Verrier
Played another solid game across half back. Continues to improve his ball use, which he has been working hard at on the training track. Got beaten a couple of times late in the game in one-on-one contests, and will look to improve in this area.
