August 03, 2013 1:37PMRICHMOND president Gary March remains confident emerging star Dustin Martin will join Jack Riewoldt in penning a new deal at Punt Rd.
Martin is out of contract and yet to agree to terms with the Tigers, with his market price continuing to soar on the back of his stellar season.
But March said there was no delay, rather the club had simply started talks with Martin's management later than it did with Riewoldt.
"In recent weeks we’ve got Dan Jackson locked away, we’ve got Dylan Grimes locked away, obviously Jack (Riewoldt) and we’re pretty confident we’ll get all our uncontracted players locked away," March told 3AW.
Riewoldt last month re-signed for three years, knocking back rich offers from rival clubs.
Martin, 22, has lifted his disposal average to 25 this year, while slotting 20.25 and has managed to swing games with devastating bursts across the half-forward line.
"We had quite a number of uncontracted players this year and probably we started with the talks with Dustin after we started with Jack, so Jack’s talks were further advanced," March, who will leave the Tigers at the end of the season after eight years as president, said.
"So there’s no hold up, it’s just going through the process at the moment. Dusty’s in much better form than he was last year, he was disappointed with his form last year.
"His last four-five weeks have been outstanding."
