In Edwards Out Nahas

Grimes may be called in at the expense of Astbury although I felt Astbury played well. Vlas may be rested.

Would be good to bring in King but agree shouldn't rush him in

Instead of resting Vlas, sub him on for Ellis. Both looked rooted yesterday. Give them shorter games to help recover. Ellis longer because he's fitter pretty much.

WP's info comes straight from the horses' mouth, X.

You'd have to be silly to believe everything said at a pre-match function

Vlas and Ellis should be rested against GWS probably Maric as well.

Boy have I been waiting for this.........It is that obvious I'm tempted to do charades so, Out: A descendant of the Archeamenid Empire of peoples, rumoured to have a left-leaning inordinate appendage that forces a right prominent gait and kicking predilection. In: A descendant of the Pict tribe of peoples whose name is roughly synonymous with a pastry delicacy favoured by market goers and the constabulary.

The Barometer: Round 21

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Robin Nahas won a late call-up but failed to grab his chance and could find himself back in the VFL next week if Shane Edwards or Jake King are right. Shane Tuck started as the sub and wasn’t bad after coming on but remains on the fringe. The only other player who could be in danger is Nick Vlastuin, who has been a bit quiet lately and might be due for a rest to freshen up for September.

ON THE CUSP: Edwards and King are first in the queue but Damien Hardwick has options after some excellent performances at VFL level. Aaron Edwards kicked seven goals and young forward/ruck prospect Liam McBean five (following six last week) in Coburg’s 74-point win against Bendigo, while Sam Lonergan had 40 disposals and two goals. Brad Helbig picked up 32 touches and Dylan Grimes picked up 22 disposals in his third match back from long-term injury.

AL PATON’S PREDICTION: Top four not out of the question with winnable games to come against Carlton, GWS and Essendon, but that would rely on someone slipping out. Some issues to address after a second-half fadeout against Brisbane but the win was never really in doubt despite some late heart flutters. Can’t afford to take the foot off the pedal.

RICHMOND - In the Mix

Improved midfielder Shane Edwards should be available after missing one match with hamstring tightness. The 24-year-old, who has played every other game this season, will likely replace small forward Robin Nahas. The Tigers have options to ponder at selection after VFL affiliate Coburg beat Bendigo by 74 points at the weekend. Aaron Edwards (seven goals and 23 possessions) was outstanding, while Sam Lonergan racked up 40 possessions, including 16 clearances. Dylan Grimes was strong defensively in his second full VFL match, but he could do with one more week with Coburg to regain his touch. Jake King (hamstring) is expected to return through the VFL this week. - Nathan Schmook
