it wasn't that many years ago that questions about Abletts ability to win his own ball were asked .Its taken him the best part of a decade to get to a level where now he has few if any peers. Our boys are still climbing that ladder...but elite they are.

I don't think we had any this year.

But if I had to label somebody as elite I'd say Cotchin and Rance. That's it folks!

IMO Houli is the most underrated player in our side

Most overrated I reckon , and by a long way.
Stripes, I don't believe that Houli is underrated. He is a good footsoldier Solid B grader. His limitations are one sided, his short kicking and occasionally short steps a hard contest. His strengths are his long kicking, his handballs (awesome) and his defensive work.
IIRC Houli was on Champion Data's elite list for us 12 months ago. As wayne said these Champion Data rankings are for specific positions/roles rather than overall. Your summary of Houli, yandb, I reckon most people would agree with. One thing for sure he's proven Essendon wrong  ;D.

I would have Cotch, Jack and Lids as elite. They've displayed a consistently high level over a number of years now. Dusty, Ellis and a couple of others who could move into the elite bracket need to back up 2013 before they do.

This is simple!
I don't want a few elite players at Richmond.
What I want to see is an ELITE TEAM.
An elite team is made up of all very good players.

Have a look at the seventies and early eighties sides, very few would have been classed as elite, but they were all very very good footballers and worked the team thing extremely well (excluding hungry of course lol)

As for that elite player list, I think some knob had a little too much time on his hands and wanted to name a few players from every team.
Not every player there is close to being elite, they are great footballers yeah, but how many are any where near the class of Ablett, not too many.

When a team wins a premiership, then a lot of players are looked at as better players, simply because they played in a grand final.
Where true elite players, don't need that behind them to gain the title of elite.

Up and coming eliteness at Tigerland in no particular order is.......
Morris
Riewoldt
Batchelor
Cotchin (almost there)
Deledio
Martin
Conca
Rance and Vlastuin
